chirsg
WHEN PLAYERS LOG OFF WITH CERTAIN ITEMS, SUCH AS PAN FLUTES AND IMPORTANT GEMS, OFTEN, THEY WILL BE LOST FOREVER. NOT EVERYONE WHO LOGS ONTO SERVERS WILL NECESSARILY RETURN. I REITERATE, OFTEN ITEMS WHERE PLAYERS LOG OFF WITH ARE LOST FOREVER, AND ONE MAY NOT EVEN REALIZE AN ITEM IS GONE FOR GOOD, FRANTICALLY SEARCHING, OR AT TIMES, WILL BE WROUGHT WITH PARANOIA IF IT'S MISPLACED OR LOGGED OFF WITH. THIS FORUM THREAD DEMONSTRATES THAT PLAYER INVENTORIES ARE PRESENT IN THE GAME'S FILES AND THEORETICALLY CAN BE ACCESSED. I THINK THAT THE STUDIOS SHOULD INTRODUCE A METHOD OF ACCESSING PLAYER ITEMS AS AN ADMIN AT THE VERY LEAST. ADMINS OF SERVERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO ACCESS PLAYER INVENTORIES AT MINIMUM. NPCMaxwell
I can barely read this, but I also think there must be a way for unique items to return if the last known owner hasn't returned for let's say 3 days? Would this hurt anyone? I hope not. Sure this could be abused to "farm" unique items, but it would still make life for those people who won't abuse it easier. 00petar00
It makes no sense to have it admin only because majority of the players won't have access and at the same time players are going to expect admins to check every single player's inventory? We don't even have ownership in the game or any kind of logs and we have to use mods. Lets say that players don't want ownership but why at least not have structures logged (that the ownership mod does) and it can literally tell you who built anything and how many days ago it was. I am not sure how hard this would be to do but I would want to have something akin to rollback plugin that minecraft has so that we don't need to rollback server after every griefer burns base. What I am trying to say is that players logging off with items is a problem but there are so many things that I would prefer to have before anything is done about this, also logging off with items is only an issue because we don't have renewable mandrakes, basically all resources should be renewable. ADMIN ACCESS AS A MINIMUM. IF I WERE IN CHARGE, FOR A PUBLIC SERVER WITH NO ADMINS, AFTER 50-100 DAYS OF NO LOGIN. PERHAPS EVEN 20 DAYS IDK. LET A PLAYER'S INVENTORY BE ACCESSIBLE VIA FLORID POSTERN, NOT UNLIKE A STORAGE SYSTEM. MANDRAKES ARE RENEWABLE TECHNICALLY, BUT YOU WASTE SO MUCH TIME. EITHER THAT OR A "DROP ALL ITEMS" BUT ADD A WHITELIST, THAT WAY, YOU CAN ELECT TO GIVE PEOPLE PERMS TO LET THEM KEEP ITEMS WHEREAS RANDOM PEOPLE DROP EVERYTHING. DROP ALL ITEMS ON DISCONNECT IS PROBABLY THE WORST IMPLEMENTED FEATURE FOR SOMETHING INTRODUCED IN THE NAME OF GOOD INTENTIONS.
