Is New Crab king way too easy in multiplayer?


Is crab king too easy?

With the pearl and 8 oranges, he died in his first ice phase. There was zero difficulty with zero resources spent, it was just hold f for a few seconds and he is dead. It was so easy it was kinda sad. We had 4 people and 6 warrior merms. None of us took damage. Was kinda sad because we had a cool strategy planned and was looking forward, the boss feels like it is a Malbatross teir boss now in terms of difficulty. 

 

The pearl should increase his hitpoints, and maybe the orange gem also increases his hitpoints? That gem is extremely underpowered at the moment and is a must use for every strategy. We had more difficulty with the frostjaw. Other changes can be made. His taunt should be shorter the more people there are since this change was implemented in referance to the solo player.

 

 

This is meant to be a raid boss, so it should not be this easy in multiplayer. Casually, These bosses are designed for multiple people, and much less casually, require gadgets and stuff solo.

Orange gems are to weak and idk why they made him spawn claws in the 1st phase if they despawn 5 seconds after. Orange could give passive armor or something defensive because right now is like fighting gemless CK

Also HP pool in bosses should be ajusted considering how much room for dealing damage you have. Isnt the same 10k HP if you can perform 50 hits in a row than 5k HP if the boss only lets you hit them 2 hits every 30 seconds

The first phase should be longerr so we interact with the claws (or make it so CK uses waves to push the boat right after we socket the last gem). Or, you know, bring back the cool geyser atack to this phase so we have something else to do other than rowing straight while ignoring everything.  And i think few more hp would be welcome

Things like bee queen and dragonfly last a decent amount of time and post some threat. This was a raidboss that fell easier than deerclops and barely got to see the fight.

 

It was just kinda lame, and it didnt feel fun to win.

True but CK is stupidly easy now because how weak are the orange gem buff and how much mechanics you can ignore

All of them post a challenge. Fuelweaver still is difficult, toadstool and bee queen too, most are. This fight lasted around 20 seconds and posted no challenge at all.

With 4 players or more even fuelweaver drops instantly

Nothing to be done about it

The only boss that is decent fun in more people is CC

He is still difficult, and requires you all to deal with his bone cages and everything. He drops quick, but not fast. Crab king falls like melted butter. You still face challenge and have to work together. You can still lose if you mess up, and still costs prep.

Its not really a boulean. We can get a good in between. I feel like they just got to make his taunt shorter the more players there are, and make orange gems increase his HP. Orange gems compared to the other gems are really weak. There might need to be some extra gem balances to make him great.

So because it is less obnoxious it shouldnt be improved??? It was changed to become fun, now it isnt that much fun because how brain dead straight forward is the fight

It's not a surprise really and a daily reminder for Klei to add a goddamm autobalance for more players. It's been too long. 

I know too well these problems and felt on my skin since 2018 when I started my journey on building a small community around DST. How do you think I feel everytime I need to put some limitations to certain boss fights to my blind pupils? "No guys, we can only use spears as max damage to this boss". Atleast some of the old raid bosses have some mechanics as walls to keep them difficult, fun and engaging.

This isn't shocking but Toadstool and Dragonfly are ones of the most favourite bosses in my community. 

I chuckle whenever I read here some posts on the forums and see immediately if the person who wrote the post have played DST alone or not.

Also Jakepeng99 I understand deeply your emotions about it, especially on "This is meant to be a raid boss.." but there's a reason Guille made here an important post concerning about this new "third wave" of boss fights from Klei. We're devolving, as ironically enough, the "together" part is not a priority nor a concern anymore for Klei, in these last two years. You can see it especially when they reduced crab king health to 10.000k and no way to increase it like before.  

The game needs proper scaling for bosses, full stop. Whether that's mechanic or health scaling, I don't know, but something does need to happen.

You will at most do one cycle for FW if you don't have high damage characters / enough people (if you do, you will easily kill him instantly).

I frequently play this game with one other person and honestly that's a good sweet spot in terms of difficulty, things like BQ are still tricky depending on character selection but at least more manageable. Even one more person though and you're doing insane numbers. And rip to those poor, poor bosses who look at 2-3 Wolfgang's coming at them. They know they are done for before the fight even starts.

I'm split because I don't think the multiplayer experience should be sacrificed for solo players they really should just make a single-player mode at this point.

More like a proper multiplayer mode because is true that the world resources is balanced arround many players but the bosses are for 1-2 players

I fail to see why these forums treat the removal of the challenge as an objective improvement to the fight

Maybe with 4 Wes players or four people with bad equipment, but even three people are enough to consistently stun Dragonfly, and depending on which characters they are and what they're bringing, even just three players can trivialize most fights in the game. Bee Queen with a Wendy, Maxwell, and Weremoose is a joke (and frankly, so is anything else), and that's not even bringing Wolfgang or Warly buffs into the equation. You're never going to see bosses balanced for that unless the number of players near the boss scales its HP upwards.

Dunno what the problem is.

You looked up on the forums for the easiest gem colour for crab king then complain the fight was too easy?

If you actually went in blind to the new crab king you guys would of had a much much harder time, instead you guys cheated the fight by knowing what the easiest gem colour is.

Try slotting 2 of each different gem colour and repeat for the challenge.
