degr
Before embark, set morale to max difficulty and disease to max difficulty. They are useless and have no effect otherwise. No need to set hunger to max difficulty and atmo-suits to max difficulty, because it just slow down progress and make game less fun When you embark into new colony, find one dupe with ranching skill to start ranch hatches as soon as possible When you embark into new colony, find one dupe who can construct conveyor rails, you need him more then everybody else You need to play on pause. If game is not in a pause, you should not make complex orders, it is about planning, game does not require "high APM". Dig agressively first 20 cycles and expand your colony. There are enough muckroots or hexalent fruits for living without cooking Duplicants should not die, at least first 50 cycles. Then base become too big, and notifications not work. However, I suggest to load previous cycle, if somebody die, as usual it is not your fault, is it game AI sucks Spoiler For me most comfortable amount of duplicants is between 30 and 50. It make no sense build more, because most probably they will iddle, and I see no sense to build less, because game to slow and boring Keep base floor 4 tiles in height. 5 tiles is luxury, require more time and pain to build something at 5th tile. 6 tiles and more allow you to bring transition tube to each chamber, but keep in mind, ceil light did not reach floor, most probably you will attach lamps to transition tube crossing. No need to worry about temperature, if you have no plants, so build 3-5 hatch ranches as soon as possible Dig to oil biome as fast as you get atmo suits, or even faster, you need lead for wires and automation and many other things Dig to space as fast as you get crude oil You need petroleum refinary to get 200 kg of plastic to build steam turbine, and around 2 tons of petroleum for nice metal refinary Spoiler Bravely rush to steel production, and heat your water to 90C. Use 90C water to make oxygen Build cooler and chill oxygen, not water Spoiler Use more then 60kg and less then 200 kg of water in steam chamber, that way even cooler work couple seconds, it is enough to make turbine work and replenish battery. If you have supercoolant, such setup consume 1200 energy and immediately refund 1100. Use water tank to make output temperature more stable and predictable Spoiler Balm lilly does not require any resources to grow Drekkons eat balm lilly Drekkon is not only fur, but also meat. Build drekko ranch and prepare for long transition from hatches to drekkons. Spoiler Spoiler Build petroleum boiler "somewhere on magma". With such setup you getting igneous stones with 412C. Pretty good for steam turbines. Spoiler Spoiler Build generators on the top of your colony, you don't need carbone dioxide and excessive water, just dump them into space. Use it as chilling agent which constantly going to space Spoiler Petroleum generators should work 100% of time. Attach smart battery and signal switch to them. In case of emergency with petroleum, you may disable switch, and generators will work only to charge your battery Attach smart battery to each power transformer to reduce peak load for generators for now, and to attach more then 50kW in late game Spoiler Build some kind of plastic factory, which should work 100% of time. It make no big sense to have 100 tons of plastic, but it make even less sense to not have it. Once you will be ready to build kilometers of transition tubes, and better not face situtation with pity 500kg at cycle 200 or 300. Spoiler If you have polluted water geyser, make bricks. You need ceramics. Most probably. Spoiler If somebody does not get how it works - you fill all barrels with polluted water, then deconstruct all of them. 5 tons of polluted water fall down packed in plastic bottle. If there is approximately 1 kg of water on the floor, it will ofgas polluted oxygen with high rate. Build barrels again, it take not a lot of time once in 50 cycles Space in vanilla game sucks. Sometimes you even can't get supercoolant in range of 30.000, and it make me mad. Build flying space-suits only for rockets, no need to build them for your base. Game is not ready for it - frame rate fall down dramatically, much more difficult to sustain vaccum areas. Duplicant can't sit into rocket without gantry (or can't pop out). Things you need to build in late game: sour gas boiler regolith melter abyssalite melter Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157780-after-many-hours/ Share on other sites

I usually go for no more than 9 until resources are plenty and I do not mind dupes idling. The only use-case I have found for 12 is full hamster-wheel power generation. I still do that occasionally. Prince Mandor
50 dupes... I envy your computer. I use 14 active dupes and 6 or 7 sleepers Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157780-after-many-hours/#findComment-1738717 Share on other sites

And plants was too vulnerable to heat (no critters vulnerable too, but at least 40C come later than 30C). Also, stats is not important, they can be trained. While, ranching is a skill, you cannot ranch before you get it, and it is second skill in a chain, so you cannot get it before cycle 15 without tricks. Rolling dupe already having this skill at cycle 1 looks like perfect investment of time rolling Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157780-after-many-hours/#findComment-1738736 Share on other sites

For regular, simple play plants are better. Cycle 25-30 is critical moment where starting food is over and you need to have already established food production or your colony dies right here right now. Ranches is too slow so mush bars... Which is always bad choice Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157780-after-many-hours/#findComment-1738737 Share on other sites
