Why nerf the batbat?

you know what you can maybe do now? Capture spider warriors in traps and carry them around. Whenever you need healing, drop them and then hit them.

I dont' know if feeding warriors heals them, but if it does, just keep feeding, trapping and hitting.

3 slots to heal by losing sanity....

Like seriously what reason is there to make it not work on shadow creatures and clockworks anymore? This is unironically the one issue I have with this update.

It especially sucks for Wormwood and Warly due to healing being harder to do for them.

Yeah its weird and ruins the item completly. I dont get the logic either of making it like wortox souls. It converts sainity and physical force to health according to Wagstaff.

They said they will look into it though looks like it stayed the same.

actually agreeing with Wagstaff here...After all the creatures could have some different form of "soul" and physical matter to draw from. (ACTUALLY if I had made this item i would specifically for clockworks and shadows make it work like that that it DOES still convert but at a significant lower impact, which would reflect converting the physical force of those creatures and still imply the lack part of the concept of "soul")

Ever heard of the "unreliable narrator"? Playable characters are kinda like that. They're just people, so they're not necessarily correct or 100% truthful in everything they say. Wagstaff is a science guy, of course he'll try to explain everything through the science lense.

Also true, obviously. Though Wagstaff to me feels the most reliable (sorry I know I am biased) when it comes to explaining since he seemed to observe this world with the /intention/ to explain and /understand/ it. (kind of wants to find out the objective non-subjective truth....if I understood his intention right)

Fair. I do think he's more reliable than at least half the cast when it comes to this stuff, it's just something to keep in mind.

The reasoning given in one of the beta update threads was that it's for the sake of internal consistency: the bat bat now uses the same internal logic as what mobs drop souls for Wortox. Shadow creatures and clockworks don't drop souls, so they don't heal you when hit with a bat bat, it's just SUPER unfortunate that the ruins are almost exclusively populated by two mobs that don't drop souls.

I do, or else everything would end up in chaos. It could even be that Wagstaff is extremly wrong over here and the force behind shadows and clockwork creatures is entirely disconnected from science and instesd some of the purest (darkest) form of supernatural magic that Wagstaff can't explain (OR that is even too advanced for HIS mind)

Meh, not that big of a deal IMO. Plenty of other methods of healing. Still super useful.

It is kinda a big deal for the item. These things are loot from ruins chests too, yet they only work against the ancient guardian. It kills it in this scenario.

tbh Wagstaff probably does understand the shadow "power" significantly less than the lunar, considering in singleplayer he has shown interest in the former, yet later only succeeded with the latter, seemingly. My guess is that he doesn't necessarily care for either "side", but just goes with whatever can serve his purpose best, but that's a whole another talk(Wagstaff is a very fascinating character).

The problem is that now you cant rely only in that item but you need an additional item to support it which sucks. If im using a healing item that is already barely used in the community i shouldn't waste an additional slot to bring more healing

They waste time nerfing an item like batbat for reasons meanwhile we have gamebreaking stuff untouchable...
