Where did you spend your skill points? How is your Skill tree? (Winona & Wurt Edition)

Recommended Posts

The skill tree of Winona and Wurt is officially here, with many skills to choose, and vague descriptions, so I want to ask you for advice. Which skills did you choose? Do your build focus on something specific? Which ones are a must to you? Which ones do you hate the most?

Honestly with Wurt's skill tree there's no one perfect build which is probably why I like it so much I do like to keep the 3 mosquitos skills and the tool shed though as they offer a lot of extra utility for the points.

Can't really comment on nona but i really like wurt! all weather scales means ruins in spring with ease. merm king quests give really good survivability for your merms. itchcraft II's mosquito catching is really good for water balloons and skeeter bombs are decent for monkey raids. helmets a bit underwhelming when youre running marble suited king and shadow merms but theyre nice. tools gave me farmerms, cant complain. kelp pot is REALLY good for mass taming, 3 kelp can tame all 15 of the merms you need in not even 5 seconds. hunger, pathfinder, and flee arent the best but flee can be paired well with blood shots. and oh my god the affinities!!! lunar is alright and the mudslinger is nice for wicker but SHADOW is literally doubling your merms and mudslinger gives a really good dps boost with mudslinger and can be spammed with dummies + brightshade staff!!
so yeah i may enjoy wurt

Haven't tried Winona yet. I prefer dislike summon/mob characters (like wurt and webber) so the fact that Wurt got a large Amphibian tree is quite nice, Maxed that out. Got 3 into Mosquito, the Tools for the merms to chop wood for me. And lunar path because... I need some corruption to alter the swamps somehow. The ability to easily catch Mosquitos is amazingly useful. Super easy to amass a ton of water balloons to keep yourself wet.

So with Wurt, in my current long world, I took King Upgrades followed by merm fortifications, after placing all builds down I immediately respec'd into amphibian tree taking the water shield for sure...since you don't need to keep the other skills to refill the fortifications. Good stuff.

for Winona, I usually pick the spotlight skills, energy saver, and portability for the 1st shelf(4), full generator efficienc, targeted shot and AOE skills from the 2nd (7), and Founder's keepers 1&2, nf fuel generator + shadow seeker 1(4).

Once I get my hands on the needed resources, I sacrifice the Charlie side skills and either targeted strike or 1 aoe skill to get the rest of Wagstaff's stuff.

Not sure about Wurt's configuration quite yet.

For wurt, entire amphibian branch, tier 2 armoury, the 3 king merm buffs for merms, both shadow perks and tier 1 merm kelp bowl if solo or pathfinder if in public server.

Shadow side wurt is far better than lunar side. Shadow mudslinger can be obtained first autumn from nightmare werepig and shadow resurrection is proper boss.

Easy for Wurt so far.

  • Ignore Amphibian branch because it’s boring
  • Only then have to wonder about getting an infinity or filling everything else in
    • If short term world don’t get affinity

Maybe I’ll change my mind. I have hardly played new Wurt.

i could not understand what the alligmend of winnona while i was testing them right now, so i dont and just go damage

Marble armor raises the defense of all merms in the world including Wurt, thulecite crown makes merms dodge attacks, and the strident trident gives a small attack boost to all merms including Wurt and gives merm guards a 3 hit combo attack.

-I feel you should atleast take all weather scales for the coldness immunity allowing you to go freely without eyebrella and such
-Shadow affinity is 0 cost, no reason not to take it (even so whos going short term as wurt?)

My current Ideal Winona Skill Tree.  I took the spolight range increase both out of obligation and because I find the additional range to make them much more useful. I took the shadow path as I find the ability to travel between wormholes more satisfying. I took the inspectoggoles for early game crafting recipie getting, easy scrap harvesting, and winbots in the end game. I'm taking the lunar planar strike path for knockoff thumper. THe last two unearned points are getting the planar strike proper and maybe getting an efficiency upgrade or pure horror fueling gens.

I really like amphibian branch it changes how you interact with rain instead of just ignoring rain it incentivices you to get wet while still beaing dangerous during winter/early spring. Extra sanity is always nice, temp resistance and wetness retention just helps staying wet and healing is just nice too, I don't like slippery hide because it just depletes wetness and you loose other perks thanks to this...

Merm King skills are just usefull, quest ones just give buffs for you and merms and hunger skills make it so you have more freedom when beeing away from base (up to 14 days).

First level of stations just come in handy, helmets give more effective hp for merms and tools let them dig up stumps and plow soil in gardens.

And then we have affinity, on top of normal dmg buffs resistances shadow one gives your merms second life and when they die they are yours until second death, rather usefull, also shadow mud slinger can be obtained pre rift soooo.

If I were to change anything maybe get rid off hydrous healing to go for second level of tools and helmets. Mosquito branch also seems interesting, and lunar branch also provides other benefits that shadow doesn't have like better aoe and easier planar dmg application.

Overall I really like this one beacuse there aren't bad choises, you can choose what you like and be happy with it.
