BALANCED Wurt swimming!

Recommended Posts

One final stretch in the hopes that this gets added. (Even if it doesn't get added, i appreciate the effort in the rest of the tree)

Downsides:

1. -0,5/sec added Hunger drain

2. Unable to fight, eat or do labor, since your hands are busy keeping afloat.

3. Drown when you fall below 20 hunger.

4. Does nothing in the caves.

Upsides:

1. 20% speed increase

2. Wetness gain, which pairs well with amphibious perks.

3. Ability to pick up items.

4. Crossing gaps and short distances

5. Merm king buff adds to how long you can swim

6. Magiluminescence buffs speed, Belt of hunger increases time swimming.

The lack of combat means ocean combat mechanics wouldnt break, which is why it was added.

I don't mean to sound negative but what would be the advantage of swimming? be it Wurt, or anyone else. This trend feels like when people wanted Webber to ride spider queens.

I think it's one of those things we'd use once, say "yeah, cool" then never use again. And it would probably take many programming hours. The closest thing we have is Woodie zooming across the ocean which is fairly useful, but slow swimming? why?

Dunno, I just don't see it's point I guess.

IMO it should be allowing wurt to traverse the water at normal speed, but at the cost of hunger and becoming wet.

So it's mostly a perk to cross small water gaps, isn't it? Because for everything else, grass rafts would still be a lot better.

No it wont. I dont know what made you come to the conclusion that 6 grass, and 2 twigs is cheaper than 0 grass and 0 twigs every time you cross a gap.

to be real for a second, if it were to happen, I wouldn't expect it to happen before the beta is up. However... it has been proven before with characters like wortox, and any character that has received a skill tree, touch ups and inclusions are something that can happen in future updates on the side. If it couldn't be done on this release, perhaps another time, that said... the next update after this would be... oof, September?

In general being to do it ANY time you want, with increased speed would be nice.

Not to mention it could make wurt save herself from drowning if she places a boat while swimming.

Generally good for placing ocean structures too, since you wont need the fuss of a boat.

Plus it would be more useful than a ~50 health shield you get only while 100% soaked, which takes a bit to do even with waterballoons.

Its balanced without the 20 downsides people keep trying to suggest. Not everything needs lots of downsides if its barely effective in the first place

yeah but the goose woodie fans could be a bit ticked off if it didint have a downside

but that's what I said, it is cheaper to cross water gaps, but for everything else it's better to just use a raft or a proper boat.
And crossing water gaps is usually an early exploration thing, since after that point (at least in most games I've been at) it's common to add boat bridges or dock bridges at the gaps you pass often.
Also Wurt as soon as she finds the swamp, has one of the easiest and cheapest access to all the wood she can possibly want, so boat crafting is not particularly punishing for her, and if said boat breaks out of careless boat driving, she has no penalty.

Again, not that I think it's wrong to suggest this or anything, I just personally think it's an overkill, and fail to see the point beyond a funny new thing for a few minutes.

When the weregoose got the ability to waterwalk, it was made mostly because of suggestions, but based out of that the goose was not really that interesting or useful.
When Willow got her fire immunity back out of forum suggestions, it was made mostly due to the fact that she had that in DS, and being partially immune to fire like she was, was not really useful in most (or any) situation.

It's not like there is something to fix about Wurt and swimming, IMO, she has a lot going for her. I'd focus in making her amphibian perks better TBH.
