Electroely Posted June 19, 2024 Share Posted June 19, 2024 With the latest patch, the Teletransport Station consumes a hefty amount of fuel with every use. The addition of a constant fuel cost for using a Teletransport Station sort of kills what was my new favorite way to play the game: building a connected network of Teletransport Stations to choose my destinations with the Portasol. The Teletransport Station has a hefty cost in silk, grass and electrical doodads so the gameplay loop of collecting resources to gain access to new areas was pretty rewarding as it progressed. I was having a blast with it and I hope tuning can be done to bring it back without having it rely on Enlightened Shards. My suggestion is to scale the power consumption of the Teletransport Station based on the distance traveled. That way, it can be tuned properly for various playstyles instead of only accounting for long-range teleportation (which is already faster, cheaper to set up and uses less Portasol durability) or Enlightened Shard usage. While I certainly do think it should have a cost to warp, draining a massive amount of power regardless of distance feels very bad at the moment. It encourages you to only make 2-3 far distance warp points instead of a bunch of small ones, which I personally find a bit unfortunate. It would, indirectly, also support the play style that was around back when the warps reached 50 tiles max without defeating being able to go long range if you have the means to do so. I think this would be a way to encourage short range hopping and keep long distance travel a perfectly valid option if you have the means to do so.
