Marotter den loot

Recommended Posts

It seems like marotter dens sometimes generate bull kelp stalks when they are full. If that is the case, it seems like a pretty interesting way to get additional kelp stalks renewably. Other than kelp stalks, I mostly see spoiled fish, rot, and kelp patches when looting the den.

Has anyone else seen any interesting items in the den?

Or even better, if someone knows from looking at the code, how does looting the marotter dens work?

The Otters themselves have a rare chance to drop message bottles when killed currently!

It’s like around 5% chance right? It doesn’t seem like a super reliable method to farm Ocean Bottles since the otters have a respawn time of around 20 days, even if you capture most otter dens. Also do you know if the otter dens respawn in any way?

In practice it is significant. Many of my bottles are from otters because you encounter so many if you row around the edges

Marroters are just more automation and lazyness in dont starve, my favorite two things!

What do you mean? I haven't played with them much yet or seen people really talk about their actual behavior so I'm not sure what they automate.
