Entity theory

Recommended Posts

I’ll keep this short since it just popped into my mind like a few hours ago what if there are entities presiding over each one of your bars Besides character

Shadow entity: sanity

Alter:Lunacy/enlightenment

Gnaw:hunger

Some Forge entity:health

I know that in the constant you have all three But I imagine if you go deep enough, it would be game to try your best to not lose all your sanity or else the shadow entity will overtake you similar to  fuel Weaver’s shadow watcher attack but worse

That's actually a nice idea on how to weave the gorge and forge realms into the regular gameplay, even if just by theory. I like this one!

Big brain time: the Forge "entity" is just the Nightmare Throne.

Sure, it wasn't sentient, but it does keep the person sitting on it live forever. (With Charlie as the exception I guess lel)

Not to mention Battlemaster Pugna did talk about the Throne in between the waves in the Forge.

ok gaining the possibility of eternal life (at the cost of being tortured by an eternal ragtime loop) makes the Nightmare Throne the better candidate for this "entity" then. Makes most sense. (How could I forget about this thing? I seriously just remembered the line "the throne won't allow this" when you attempt to attack Maxwell on the throne, which to me always sounded like the throne had some sort of "own interest" to keep you unharmed.)

I like it, but I’m running into one problem if a nightmare thrown is a nightmare throne will it be tied to sanity not health not to mention being a product of the sanity entity

Wish I could get a clear answer if the dst has actual plot, had but is now forgotten, or if it never even had it in the first place.

Like, does Charlie actually has relevance and a very interesting behind the scenes story, did she had it but the new stuff is made up, or was she created purely to make night damage mechanic cool backstory and there's nothing more to it? What's her deal right now? Are klei just making stuff up or was this planned? In RoT or in Forge trailer or anywhere really her whole thing is to stand there menacingly like she knows stuff we and survivors don't know, but do klei know, or is it just for show?

No matter what klei are doing with her right now, it's stupid. Her goal is to bring back an eldritch horror entity because he's actually just misunderstood and is a very nice guy. If she's right that's so dumb, and I can't imagen klei explaining Fuelweaver's quotes and ruins issue. If she's not right, this is the worst "an obviously evil entity reveals itself to be actually evil" cliche story I've seen in my entire life.

I'm into lore and theories but in order to actually be invested I need to know for sure the story exists but hidden in the dev's minds, and not a retcon.

true once again, or else it would just be the ethernal throne.

I have a similar feeling honestly when I returned to DST last year, after having "left" it when the new reign was introduced. (I didn't like Charlie claiming the throne, which I am fine with now, but having watched all the lore videos in between my mind was.....I wonder if the lore if had gone THIS direction if DS had never turned into DST)

retcon

Too bad Klei already retconned the "Wagstaff got stranded in the Constant" theory from Winona's Next of Kin short.

I honestly dislike the current Wagstaff plotline that barely sees any heads or tails. I'd definitely prefer the "Wagstaff got corrupted by the Constant itself" idea than this stupid projector screen thing.

I’ve come up with a second connected theory:

Sanity/enlightenment: Both come from the brain which eyes are directly attached to

Hunger: comes from the stomach, which is directly attached to the mouth

Health: heart, blood maybe ?????(forge lava= forge entity maybe)(this last one is a bit half baked but you get the general idea, right)

if the gorge and forge aren’t in the constant( I think they're just different parts of it) perhaps their celestial bodies that if combined will form a different entity

Also, I think alter has some of effect over the gnaw  sense the moon effects water and the gnaw’s favor is an iridescent gem on the inside and the outside looks like an aqua blue moonstone and if it’s not moonstonecan can someone tell me what it is?

Alternatively - We know that Alter's influence only affects the things that it can access either physically (the lunar island) or through its sight. If you are in the caves Alter can't do anything to you, unless you are in the Lunar Grotto - part of the caves directly under the Lunar Islands which hold Alter's energy limb

So, Gnaw being a giant mouth in the sky which blots out the cosmos might just very well be a direct counter to Alter. Sure, in that way Gnaw is the only thing that Alter can affect on the whatever planet Constant is, so it is also tanking 100% of Alter's influence; but who's to say that Gnaw cannot use that to its advantage. I mean... we don't know what's on the other side of that cloudy wormhole. Maybe a second mouth, maybe a different orifice; whatever is on the other side, maybe Gnaw can 'feed' on the energy Alter is sending down onto Constant, hence why it is exhibiting a bit of lunar like mechanics with the iridescent gem. Maybe Gnaw was the one who drove the Ancients underground. Separated them from their diety and started mutating them into merms.

At the end of the day this is all theorizing; Klei is neither interested in seriously exploring the lore of the Constant's gods, nor ancients and especially not the Forge/Gorge

I also noticed that power that turn the power that turns players into merms is pink do you think it might be a fusion of the two excess power of both sides or do you think that just the gnaw’s own power
