(PLEASE FIX) Shadow creatures ruin fuelweaver

Recommended Posts

I mentioned this before but for some reason people downplay the issue, so here is 1 picture that will get my point across better than 100 words. Double terrorbeaks removed my kidneys for equipping nightmare amulet for 2 seconds to try and stagger weaver.

This isn't the core issue however. The AI in this game is bad, and so are the controls. Nightmares will not leave me alone because they only check my sanity occasionally and only after doing an attack. The controls make it hard to dispose of wovens already, but when a stupid crawling critter harrases you it becomes impossible.

If you're not going to fix bigger issues, at least get rid of the annyoing and pointless shadows. The mechanic already exists, after you kill fuelweaver - shadows instantly die on spawn (for some reason). The lore logic also exists. We know that Carlie can control them, and wants us to beat fuelweaver. And the gameplay reasoning is self explanatory, sanity management is already a key part of this fight and we don't need random mobs to punish us. Fuelweaver already does so.

Call off your minions! This is a drop of poison in my favorite wine.

there's a 33% chance for them to deaggro and taunt after doing an attack, they just reaggro back onto you if your sanity isn't high enough

nah it's possible, that's something that you need to play around

it's just a nightmare amulet thing, you can stay above 10% sanity to have 1 crawling horror at most, nightmare amulet also usually despawns nightmares after you unequip it

It can take forever sometimes. Im not exagerating when I say it can take more than a minute for them to despawn. And its in a fight when time is such a key cuz the gap to deal damage is so little if u not stupid as wolfgang level. Really annoys. Sometimes I stop practicing cuz got too annoyed by this issue in specific.

I recently came to the conclusion that I give up learning solo FW and rather get post-CC to use the Brightshade Staff on FW. It feels like they made that weapon very specifically for easing the FW fight.

I get if that's not a solution for most people. I just felt the need to express how amazed I was that Brightshade Staff might as well have a note on it that says "Use in case Woven Shadows and/or Unseen Hands"

They definitely made the brightshade staff for console players to have a chance to kill ancient fuelweaver solo. But its a quick fix (or a long fix because rift gear is so far late game) for the problem.

Preventing ancient fuelweaver from spawning more waves of woven shadows until you destroy all the shadow hands would go a long way to solving the problem gi-go has with nightmare creatures spawning and improving the Qol of the fight in general.

nah, that'd just unnecessarily dumb down the fight and not affect nightmares spawning when baiting mind control for dealing more damage before he spawns unseen hands

I am amazed by how much sanity Fuelweaver drains. I recently tried it solo again and my massive pile of green mushrooms and dried kelp felt like they are doing nothing. Like I can't even eat them fast enough to keep sanity up enough. I probably could have done it if I had 2 more weatherpains with me, but I'll regroup and try again. Feels like I need to bring like 20 vegetable stingers to keep my sanity topped off , ridiculous. Guess I could Bee Queen helmet also.

Same as deerclops. If you dont use BQ hat and you are also telepuffing you wanna a lot of sanity food until you master the fight

Noooooo just give me more time I'm making an advanced guide on how to fight him for every skill level. This screenshot comes from a practice fights for the guide where I "accidentally" let fuelweaver summon minions while he is in the middle. You can still recover from that with minimal to no consequences using nightmare amulet properly, unless you get really unlucky with shadow creatures.

Absolutely not. The issues of random shadows or the one I haven't addressed (fuelweaver loosing agro and walking into the middle some times) are bad design, but can be worked around with high enough skill. We don't need to sacrifice good difficulty to counter bad one.

He dosen't drain all that much sanity, you most likely lost majority of it on lazy explorer, which drains 15 per use. I would suggest you to dodge bone cage by running away, but this requires proper timing, which can only be achived with practice.

Both Deerclops and Fuelweaver do -400 sanity/min aura. Without the Bee Queen Crown, you'd be fully insane in just over a minute.

Someone said you can dig the bone cage for bone shards to escape, but I haven't tried that strat yet. Would be much better than using the Lazy Explorer to escape to be honest.

I did a fight using 1 hambat, 40 cactus and a nightmare amulet as Wortox and was fine despite the food penalty.

I would have heard about this from code miners if it were the case.

Functionally Wortox doesn't have a food penality for sanity received by food.

He has half negative sanity aura and gains half sanity from food so it all cancels out resulting in wortox gaining the same sanity as everyone else from food... Verses negative auras at least.

I feel like nightmares are there to stay than change cause they exists primarily to be a deadly threat when dealing with anything else besides them.

I'd keep them how they are if the player doesn't use materials given to deal with it like it's a punishment

Celestial portal switch to willow > make like 10 bernies cause they are cheap enough > swap to wolfgang for double damage > kill ancient fuelweaver > swap back to whoever you play normally.

Problem solved. Celestial portal is very quick to rush these days.

that works too

T'would be an interesting interaction if instead of attacking you shadow creatures would stick to the sidelines and buff Fuelweaver, causing him to attack faster and do more damage.

Would still incentive you to keep your sanity hight without simply swarming you with enemies, which is annoying

Yeah , I had a chance for Wormwood to do the fight again with 2 more weatherpains and a few extra veggie stingers and finally beat him down. Very satisfying !

My problem the first time was wearing a dread helm with a dark sword was too much sanity loss I guess , plus I was getting really bad rng with shadow creatures spawning during the fight , like 4 or 5 on me lol.

It's crazy how much he spams the invisible hands and woven shadows. Like , I would sometimes just have gotten rid of them and literally 5 seconds later they're back again. Definitely had to use a few Jellybeans for the fight too , they saved me.

First time I  soloed him without any cheese method . Really hard , fun fight.
