If we get a gem tree we need recipes to use them

Recommended Posts

We will receive a tree that can be harvested to obtain gems but by cleaning the ruins a couple of times we get an insane ammount of gems that will last a very long time unless we talk about green gems or the player enjoys megabasing and uses some ruins items for simply decoration

We got a lot of end game content but gems (or gears) arent used on it

I guess the gem trees are for players that dont like going to the ruins or have caves turned off, or for Winnoa's gemerator.

1. Change into Wilson.

2. Mass produce Green Gems.

3. Duplicate whatever you want in the entire game and make yourself never run out of thulecite or different expensive resources.

? Ok

Only means that we need more recipes with gems...

What if you dont have all the wilson skill points to even do that

I don’t get why people bring up that you can duplicate all the expensive resources with green gems at the cost of needing to spend a significant chunk of time to get ways to dupe the resources, when in most cases doing the thing that gets you said resources will almost always be faster than duping it for just about any player (EX: resetting the ruins for thule). The most I use green gems in my 16K day world is to dupe shroom skin and dreadstone for mushlights/dreadstone pillars since they are by far the most time gated, both of which only slightly move the needle in terms of survival cases.

The issue with the gems is not because the lack of recipes, is because you need to go to ruins to craft those recipes there. I play with a lot of casual players; most of them have a phobia of the caves, and talking about ruins is like a death sentence to them. I know there are a lot of people who can rush to the ruins on day 1 but others only go to the caves to craft and refuel their lanterns.

Bonus points to those people who kill Dragonfly every 3 seconds after she respawns, as most gems you see on a server are either from Dragonfly or Hounds raids.

If they add more recipes for gems, they should add them on the surface level, especially for those servers that are created without caves.

Yeah maybe have weaker version of the ruin crafts for yellow gems and green gems for the surface would be nice ( or just have weaker versions of things like magiluminescence and deconstruction Staff without using yellow or green gems)

makes sense, survivors use shadow magic and stuff already, just not at the level of The Ancients.

They could prototype a very weak alternative, because what is stopping them? The thing that is holding survivors back from building Ancient Level magic is lack of Thulecite. (my headcanon if this were to be added)

do you have any idea how expensive green gems are to craft? 27 purples is a single green

If you upgrade the florid postern, build a proper warg farm using Winona catapults, stand around at it for a few days both in the Winter and Summer over the course of a year, you can farm enough to produce 5 green gems! Isn't that amazing?!

While I don't disagree with them adding more gem recipes I think the main reason we're getting gem trees is because of character crafts that can consume a lot of gems over time like Winona, Walter, Wanda, or Wolfgang for example granted it usually only becomes a issue when you have multiples of these characters and those people all decide they want to use their gem crafts without bugs like with the varg farm.

Walter

his ammos that require gems suck, no one uses them

you don't really need any specific dumbbells since you can keep up mightiness by doing anything, even a stone dumbbell is enough since you only need to get barely mighty before doing something and you only lose mightiness when standing still/walking without a dumbbell

Walter's ammo can be buffed (most likely will with the skill trees)

In the real world people dont want to go with a stone dumb bell

I dont get what is the purpose of answers like this one other than "i use my free time to say "you are wrong" in a forum by using poor points"

Then you probably don't play with enough people as they use bad skills all the time like Winona's searchlights and even Warly's monster tart. Heck I've seen a guy who make 200 freeze rounds, over 100 slowdown rounds, and 500 cursed rounds and he didn't even stay on the server long enough to use half of it.

Say pal you must realize not everyone is playing optimally right?

it didn't get buffed yet though so walters don't use gems

the point was that you wouldn't go out of your way to use gem dumbbells either because mightiness rarely decreases

the point of this part of the message is simply to annoy

that's like saying that wilsons consume a lot of gems because they spend all blues and reds on making 9 iridescent gems for CK

still don't know why'd you go out of your way to get gem dumbbells

I just hope we can influence what kind of gems we get. I don't have any use for blue, red, green, and orange gems. If it's painfully slow but you can influence getting one type of gem then it's not so bad.

That also helps set it apart from the ruins. In contrast to the ruins you can focus on what your higher gem craft usage is. Instead of raiding the ruins and collecting a lot of gems you don't use. I tend to feel obligated with picking everything up in the ruins before a FW reset. (Also would reduce how often you fight FW for a ruins reset when you need a particular gem.)

People dont min max like tryhards forumiters. They wanna have fun crafting and experiencing with characters perks

they most likely will while in ruins, but i still don't see why'd you go out of your way to get them unless i forgot about ways to use ice and fire dumbbells but iirc it's just bishops, fire farms, CK and moving stuff

There's a pretty big difference there one requires a really high skill level and the other doesn't. Again I'm not saying people playing optimally are doing this it's people who see they can use them and proceed to do it because it's a unique to Walter.

I mean that's like asking why would you play Walter or Wes no? People generally aren't all about playing optimally.

the point was that it's just weird to do since it isn't even fun to use them because of how little purple ammo does and freezing ammo being pretty much worse in comparison to ice staves

walter isn't nearly that bad

yeah but they don't add much fun since it's just bigger numbers and there are only like 4 scenarios that you'd use ice and fire dumbbells in so idk

i also don't know why are we still arguing about this considering that it changes nothing

People just tend to love to play with gadgets which is what his special rounds fall under even in the case of freeze rounds which I've gone on record of saying them being worse in every possible way to ice staffs.

While I agree there are many people who see him as that bad even some who consider him worse than Wes since his downside can be more impactful than Wes's for some people.
