Hi.
Once I had a world where I thought I did everything, I killed every boss, I saw every enemy, and I did most of the events. What I did was make small weird goals like for example, craft every item or, turn the oasis into lunar island. It makes the end of the game a bit more fun IMO. Evelo
If you are into speed running, do unconventional speed runs. Examples being: Fill out Cookbook, Fill out Plant Book (even though it is a hat?), Pearl Quest completion, Moon Quay Island location asap. Stuff that isn't just "Kill X or Y Boss Speed Run" - I found rushing the Waterlogged Extra Large Trees to make a coastal base with those was pretty fun to have before the first summer, plus was a different kind of challenge given all the pre-requisites. Megabase (not my preference but lots of weirdos people do it.) If you have mods, try altering world changing mods that drastically change biomes, or world generation (if they exist that is). If you are looking for DST adjacent stuff then you could get into modding. I have 0 coding or artistic skills but I am sure if I put my mind to it I could figure out something I was happy with. So there is that. Or, yknow play a different game. Nothing wrong with leaving and coming back. I personally haven't played in a few months but I keep up to date with what is going on because I love the game so much. (If you are looking for game recommendations, if you like Colony Management/City Building games then Against the Storm is amazing. I think it became my 3rd favorite game of all time it is so good) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/153754-best-things-to-do-when-bored-in-dst/page/2/#findComment-1693469 Share on other sites
shaurun
Well, what I was trying to do is when I was bored was start a new world of smallest size possible and replace all the tiles with custom floor. You should do it without console commands, so collect all resources for that while still playing. I haven't achieved that yet, even one world branch was difficult to me. Another option is to go to public servers and try to establish something fun. E.g. with a Woodie occupy the forest, create a cabin-lonely base and surround yourself with treeguards and werepigs. Put warning signs and try to save your forest from outsiders. Or as a Maxwell try become some resource king so everyone has to trade with you in order to survive. Or make a swamp witch of Wickerbotttom / desert controller of Willow. Other thing in DST is light out world base building with a goal to make full moons activated. It's honestly difficult to achieve, since I found my progress to be very slow compared to regular worlds. Antynomity
43 minutes ago, Evelo said: Snip Banger comment tbh, I myself already tend to rush giant trees because I don't like regenerating worlds for hours just to get the perfect oasis placement. Those speedruns sound fun, I grew bored of my megabase world so maybe doing some of those could be the much needed breakthrough to either continue said megabase or start a new long-lasting world. Specifically the cookbook one could be very fun, as I always liked cooking in this game, it's a mechanic that doesn't get enough credit imo. Master_NiX
A certain mod creator used to dress up as Dodo and burn his base when he would get bored. I saw him do it once, and he yelled "BURN THE EVIDENCE!" Evelo
After reading @shaurun 's comment it got me thinking of other challenge modes. I don't know if you are familiar with the 1 tile challenges in other genres. One I am most familiar with is Project Zomboid where you start only on 1 tile and after a certain amount of experience you unlock additional tiles. Change that around to a tile challenge where you can only move onto tiles you build yourself. Spawn in with the resources for whatever tile you want to use for the run and a pitchfork and go get it. Maybe you can limit yourself to only a certain number of tiles per day survived? Maybe you could make a mod so this can be experienced by everyone? Who knows the world is your oyster! I want to try that now... good golly. Szczuku
I'd say from experience that usually being bored in dst is an early warning of being bored of dst. I usually tried to start a new playthrough as a different character or a challange run but even if I played for 250+ days I'd later realize that I was more-or-less just doing the same things over and over and that I wasn't really enjoying myself Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/153754-best-things-to-do-when-bored-in-dst/page/2/#findComment-1693489 Share on other sites
