grm9 Posted December 2, 2023 Share Posted December 2, 2023 hibernation vest isn't good atm and no one uses it because insulation doesn't stack with thermals, sanity gain is smaller than from shanter and it requires not using a backpack, so i suggest making it possible to use it as a sleeping bag, e.g. you could sleep while wearing it, making it lose durability twice as fast but gaining 1 or 1.5 hp, 1 sanity per second, losing 0.75 hunger per second and losing or gaining temperature until it's between 60 and 64 (if you didn't know, all things you can sleep in keep your temperature inbetween two values, e.g. 30 and 45 in case of fur roll) maybe you could also yawn when attacked while sleeping using it to make all creatures nearby sleep, allowing you to flee, but that'd probably be useless because the only scenarios in which this can happen are hound waves and being near a spider den/hound mound Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/152856-allow-using-hibernation-vest-as-a-sleeping-bag/ Share on other sites More sharing options...

Maybe we'll get a clothing slot someday? There's art showing it off, but I will take a guess that it'll take a little bit of rebalancing of clothing items in general for anything to happen with them. I'd say they should act either on their own well or act as supplementary. Or be as they are and just let us wear them with backpacks anyway. I like clothing items but they don't contribute to anything for me until a few head slot swaps to replace any use for them. Backpacks are incredibly useful and powerful alone but I think clothing wouldn't add anything too crazy but to feel more comfortable traveling or staying in base always chill and sane. Clothing items unless we talk about lightning protection aren't particularly anything original imo. With the balance of what hats already provide and many other solutions we have for protection I think being able to wear them only would make life somewhat easier. Sanity regen is great but it won't contribute as much to combat besides negate some of the sanity loss to particular bosses. Not like we've got that many elemental enemies to have to combat anyway that the clothing would be too strong for combat because the proof is that we've got those kinds of hats that already do the job too well to not consider that maybe body slot clothing should co-exist in a more proper manner. In addition to that, it also gives you a lot of sanity and makes you require a lot less food. It's one of the best items in the game, with its only drawback being rather low durability. It's one of the best items in the game, with its only drawback being rather low durability. a 90 degrees thermal with no clothing can keep you above 0 degrees for roughly 8 minutes, while bearger vest alone can for 10.5. It's just nice qol. The real reason people don't use the thing is because you're giving up inventory body slot gear for marginally better insulation. Why give up so many inventory slots when thermal/beef hat/tam is already enough?
