I've decided to try and mock up some of these. I'll start with spiders.

I've basically just reversed the animation, I added a bit of wind-up before hand so it makes it look like they put effort into ascending a bit.

It looks much, much better!this is much nicer than the bite and disappear animation, and, most importantly, more logical

I think a cool thing for an animation of spiders climbing back up would be for the web to not appear out of nowhere and instead it being 'dropped' (would further imply that the spiders care for eachother) and then the spider latching onto it and continuing as normal.

What a freaky coincidence you bring this up. I was just thinking about this.

Truthfully, my animation tools are not the best, and that gif was merely an edit of the existing animation.
My original idea was that they'd roll onto their backs, shoot a web up, and quickly zip up. 
That, or another web coming down that they latch onto and slink up as well.
