Should DST have encumbrance?

You want MORE incentives for beefalo?
I must be on a different plane of reality, they are insanely powerful and are practically a character replacement the way so many people use them. I think Beefalo should be nerfed because of just how powerful they are. (They won't and that is fine but it irks me).

People sleep on the Piggyback. It is amazing until you get lucky from Klaus for the Sack or prefer to use the insulated pack. Just drop it on the ground when you're in combat, it can't burn after all.

I don't have much experience with Beefalo, so I guess I don't really know how strong they are. I never really had any need for them. I just like the idea of using them to transport things. Perhaps they could make them able to transport those heavy statues or something.

Edit: oh my god I just realized you can already use beefalo to move those suspicious boulders lol. I'm always learning new things about this game even after years of playing it. that's why i love it

That’s… already in the game?? Beefalo do not get penalized whatsoever when moving statues/heavy objects, and in fact it’s the most optimal way to move said heavy objects.

I just edited my post at the same time you posted after reading the wiki haha.

Seriously, does anybody here know of any mods that return spiders in traps to their pre-Webber-refresh status, where they used to just auto-die the way frogs still do, and give you the loot?

Here, I made a quick mod for you!

I can understand why most people would not like encumbrance/weight mechanics in a game where loot/drops/crafting is a big part of the game.

I have always liked those rare games/RPGs that only allow you to carry only a specific number of certain weapons/items (like only being able to carry/equip a few swords/guns) and perhaps use other methods of transporting large amounts of items, like vehicles or some kind of "mule." I always found it a bit silly when games allow you to carry 30 swords, 15 armor sets, or thousands of pounds of items on your person.

This then adds some challenge/strategy to the game, which i like, forcing you to think ahead and bring only what's important instead of fighting over how much crap you can fit in your inventory.

I wonder how increasing the durability of all armors and then only allowing you to carry a certain amount would affect the balance of the game? I dislike having to carry multiple helmets/armor sets when I prep for a boss/giant fight.

Ohmygod, thank you! Thank you so  much! :D I was thinking that probably already existed, but couldn't find one anywhere. I'll try it out next time I go back to the spider rockland and murder the hell out of them for their silk say hello! :)

Also, edit: I've played games before that did have encumbrance and while I found it annoying, I was just kinda used to it. I guess it depends on what type of game it is (and/or whether or not it already had that mechanic when you, personally, started playing it. I've also known cases of games that STARTED with inventory limits and then the devs went "Nah" and took them out entirely). For the most part, the games I've played that had encumbrance were oldschool D&D-like rouglikes, and D&D has encumbrance too, so it seemed just normal and expected there.  (shrug)

...Notorious

Maybe then it would be cool if they just gave beefalo the ability to carry a lot of items for players. I just wish there were more incentives for using beefalo.

Beefalo are a 1000hp regenerating shield, an infinite durability weapon (of varying damage), and a large movement speed boost that ignores player speed penalties (such as piggyback, which allows you 4 extra inventory slots with no drawback before krampus sack). Beefalo have plenty incentives already, giving them inventory slots would be  unnecessary.
