Jimothywastaken
Pigs in DST are fine but i think they could really do with more in depth mechanics or a few adjustments to have them feel a bit more alive instead of just breathing hambat materials. Firstly i want to talk about 2 minor changes before i get into more wacky ideas Pigs should become aggressive if you hammer their houses like honestly that just makes sense i would be pretty mad if some random just started deconstructing my house and last i checked guardian pigs actually attack default pigs which makes no sense as normal pigs actually come to the defense of guard pigs if one gets attacked okay so for the more far out ideas i really want pigs to interact with the world more. right so hear me out, small pig groups follow suspicious dirt piles that are located nearby to pig king and fight whatever the hunt is and collect all the loot so its not just a free loot farm. (this is admittedly stepping on the player's toes but i think it could be cool) especially if befriended pigs could follow hunt trails for you if you start one (kinda similar to how pigs used to be used to sniff out truffles in the real world) i think it would be also cool if the area near pig king had pig houses spawn very slowly to prevent the complete death of pigskin in a server without using the moon stone event it could also be neat if pigs interacted with the resources in the pig village or just straight up had small farms they worked on (this would also cause pigs to get aggressive if the player(s) tamper with the farms in any way kinda like hamlet but it could also serve as a little introduction to farming kinda like how the pig hunts would show a new player that the dirt piles = food (most of the time) and for the really wacky idea it could be interesting if a reputation system was introduced and affected how the pigs treat you if you build pig houses or befriend pigs (but dont werepig them) you gain a positive reputation which would have the effects of pigs are more polite when talking to you and follow you for longer if you feed them (maybe at max positive rep pig king gives you more gold for meat trades and pig guardians are neutral??) but at a negative rep (killing were/pigs and destroying occupied houses) pigs are auto hostile and if you really get them to despise you pig king will refuse trades (monster characters would be unable to change to their reputation so wurt is still unable to trade with pig king) i mostly just want pigs to be a "player lite" of sorts and while they might not be equals to the player they would be more interesting to share the world with and while these ideas are admittedly kinda insane i am very interested to see to what you guys can come up with (or modifications to my ideas thats cool too) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/152104-pig-ideas-that-i-think-could-be-interesting/ Share on other sites
Creatorofswamps
I agree. but we also need to update the merms. the ideas are interesting Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/152104-pig-ideas-that-i-think-could-be-interesting/#findComment-1676437 Share on other sites

That having been said, there wouldn't be much reason for merms to hunt for meat. Yes, it doesn't make much sense for them, instead they could do something else, for example, sometimes collect reeds for their needs Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/152104-pig-ideas-that-i-think-could-be-interesting/#findComment-1676449 Share on other sites
Mike23Ua
Just let pigs (& Merms) drop anchors/raise boat sails- Seriously boating in DST is so obviously designed to be done with more than one player that almost all boating content solo is extremely painful to do- Trust me I’d know, I just spent the past 2 weeks fighting Crab King. Trying to row a boat with an Xbox controller without also accidentally interacting with the plank or other loose debris on the boat is a pain in of itself. And I feel like being able to hire a crew and then simply tap a button to command them to do something would help by miles! If any of you have ever played Assassins Creed Black Flag or Atlas you’d understand what I mean by not having to leave the captains steering wheel while also having NPC controlled Crew mates raise/lower masts/drop anchor etc.. This would make Crab Kings fight a million times more enjoyable. (And probably all other ocean content too..) I think it'd be really fun if there were also pigs and merm boats that'd randomly spawn out in the ocean doing their own thing. They wouldn't hunt down the player like monkey pirates, but rascally players could use them as a source of food/pigskin/whatever other loot might spawn on their boats. I wouldn't be bothered if this made it in. 2 hours ago, Jimothywastaken said: i think it would be also cool if the area near pig king had pig houses spawn very slowly to prevent the complete death of pigskin in a server without using the moon stone event I disagree with this because pig king is a very desirable location to build on. Having pig houses spawning is not a good way to go as it's too intrusive. I'd rather have pig men spawn from the pig king periodically, or have pig king get mad somehow and make him spawn pig guards from his body like the merm king. I appreciate your spirit, but pig houses spawning from thin air isn't the way to go. 2 hours ago, Jimothywastaken said: it could also be neat if pigs interacted with the resources in the pig village or just straight up had small farms they worked on (this would also cause pigs to get aggressive if the player(s) tamper with the farms in any way kinda like hamlet but it could also serve as a little introduction to farming kinda like how the pig hunts would show a new player that the dirt piles = food (most of the time) I actually really love this. I've had this thought in my mind and would add to the world so much. I'd like it a lot more if they interacted with things near them, like, have them also fertilize bushes near them if they must. 2 hours ago, Jimothywastaken said: if you build pig houses or befriend pigs (but dont werepig them) you gain a positive reputation which would have the effects of pigs are more polite when talking to you and follow you for longer if you feed them (maybe at max positive rep pig king gives you more gold for meat trades and pig guardians are neutral??) but at a negative rep (killing were/pigs and destroying occupied houses) pigs are auto hostile and if you really get them to despise you pig king will refuse trades (monster characters would be unable to change to their reputation so wurt is still unable to trade with pig king) super difficult imo to implement, but why not. Pig houses are better built and they are more civilized than merms. Its only when Wurt players interact with merms and make the merm king that they become civil. Plus wurt still has to get her skill tree. Merms are going to get a big update soon anyway. But animations or behavior corrections will never be superfluous even if they are small^^ Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/152104-pig-ideas-that-i-think-could-be-interesting/#findComment-1676511 Share on other sites
