  1. 1. Should the saw horse be crafted in the alchemy engine, or learned from a blueprint from Pearl after giving her a relic chair?

Ok soooo after having unlocked the sawhorse myself in my day 180+ world as Wormwood.. I can firmly say that unlocking this thing is an overly complicated process that doesn’t really help with survival in any way shape or form.

In Context: It’s easier to get a Walking Cane & Tam’o’shanter than it is to obtain Sawhorse BP.

There are several reasons for this- #1 it’s tied to the RNG of your Caves, well to be more specific.. Your “Ruins” so if your world spawns with a ton of Splumonkey, Nightmare Fissures & Broken Clockworks like Mine was…. you’ll have an Easier time fighting CrabKing then you will getting Sawhorse BP.

#2- You have to be in the Ruins & you have to lower your sanity to a very low threshold then attack a Resting Horror who’s sitting in a chair, Chairs which depending on your world Gen… may or may not be plentiful &/or- Broken.

Oh & #3- once you obtain this Blueprint, you have to make it out of your caves system alive with that new knowledge, return to the surface, build a boat and sail through the RNG that is the Ocean which may or may not involve shark attacks and monkey pirate raids.

You can literally defeat most the games bosses (& actually get cool weapons and gear to aid in your survival…) faster then you can get a wooden stool to sit on & look cute.

If that doesn’t explain it needs to change, nothing ever will..

Are you trolling? You were previously told that there are consistent methods for finding ruins. You also don't even need to damage or take damage from any of the ruins enemies aside from the resting horror, they won't be able to hit you if you simply walk away from them, you only need to stop to hit the horror and pick up the blueprint.

Tbh this is just skill issue, literally, not skillful enough.

You can literally just run away from them and they'll never catch up, plus you can tell what phase it is at the entrance and inside ruins easily, so just pay attention to the nightmare cycle and avoid all danger.

As for clockworks, they spawn after the relic chairs, you don't have to fight them at all.

Which is very easy to do in a level with constant sanity grain and permanent darkness.

You only need 1 chair and rocks are plentiful.

Just read a message bottle for Pearl's location, that bottle spawns rather often

Sharks are easy to dodge, and pirates can be pan fluted or just drop some items, not that difficult, especially early on.

You missed the point…

What am I obtaining that is of any use to me from sawhorse BP aside from pretty furniture?

Does the furniture slowly restore sanity levels like standing by Walter while he tells his annoying Repetitive campfire stories by campfire? No the Lambs Idol Campfire does that, and you can obtain that easily by giving a cute sand castle bucket to the adorable Antlion.

Does the furniture restore health? Well Err no but something as easy to craft as a grass sleeping bag will do that.

So is the furniture embedded with an ancient magic that prevents shadow creatures from wanting to go near it? Well errr no?

So you’re telling me that I can end up in a cave with spitter spiders and damaged bishops sniping me from afar all in an attempt to get a mostly useless- no wait scratch that TOTALLY Useless Chair BP?

Well Err yeah I guess.

Why? It makes for EXCITING GAMEPLAY AND EPIC REWARDS.

Does Klei or the rest of the fanbase really believe that? *shrugs* okay if you say so.

You said obtaining the blueprint is difficult, I proved that it's not. I wasn't talking about the effects of sawhorse either. However I do agree obtaining the blueprint is too much of a hassle.

No you can't end up like that. Those 2 mobs aren't involved in obtaining the blueprint at all. Unless you go into the stalagmite biome, military biome or you go past the relic chairs into the sacred altar room. In that case it's either skill issue or questionable decision(like walking past relic chairs. Just Why?).

Sometimes I wish my Xbox would let me record clips that are longer than 30 seconds.. i would send you a video of exactly what all I actually had to go through to get the Relic Chair BP & then the Sawhorse BP..

...the point it seems a lot of people aren't getting (or are ignoring on purpose) is that this shouldn't BE a matter of skill: you don't have enough. "Git gud" is the stereotypical gamer-bully comeback to "I can't defeat this boss", not the stereotypical gamer-bully comeback to "I can't get my character to figure out how to make a chair." The whole process makes NO sense. The risk not only doesn't = the reward, it doesn't even _fit_ the reward. Difficulty-wise, thematically, or story-wise. (Now, if they DID write in a story reason why you have to go do the ruins and help Pearl in order to obtain Ikea instructions, that'd be funny. I'd read the crap out of that. I'd watch a movie based on that. As it is, however...)

Which is precisely when I went "Screw this" and...

Kept expecting this to be changed to something more sensible the way the original Clean Sweeper recipe did, but it seems like for whatever reason they're...actually....serious?? about this? so...

Unfortunately, although what I typed there is referred to as a "console command", console players can't use them. So what if you want to go another way around. What if you still want to be able to build cute (not gameplay-advantaging, JUST cute) furniture in your base but from a different source, not the game itself's furniture, so that the quest isn't required? What if you wanna be like "Fine! I'll go make my OWN furniture then! With...blackjack, and 'ladies of the evening'!" so you go to the Workshop and...

Oh, wait: Console players can't use mods EITHER.

Seriously this is just dumb odd.

Well... There's still one way to do it: commit the crime of taking videos of a screen

Mike23Ua is not completely wrong, and on your side, you miss an important point : the first time we explore the caves, most of players surely don't have in mind "I have to quickly find a chair for Pearl, so I don't have to go this way"

;)

Now, giving a chair to Pearl, who can't even try to rebuild her house, to get the blueprint of a sawhorse for crafting furnitures ... well ... That's not the character I would ask for this. :D

idk if u think about this .. but i feel the furniture locked behind the ruins and pearl is great.

if this was updated way before i feel comfortable with cave,  i would force my ass off my comfort zone and finally stepped into the ruins.
getting to geared up with overprepared food option especially for sanity and for real experiencing what cave really is. its actually what i do before i finally step into cave far from the stairs.
i remember how scary it is getting out of the cave light near stairs and at that time i use wendy and her char say "uh-oh i think i should leave" which i dont know it was a warn before worm attack and without seeing an actual worm, i run my ass off once again from the cave. (no hate, but i agree how using wendy as main before playing other char making u too comfortable to learn real fight, cus before even trying to fight u already panicking when seeing ur powerful ghost get wrecked).

then when trying maxwell get me out of comfort zone from i finally trying to fight shadow creature because u remember how max use many nmfuel for few workers.
or how wortox make me comfortable seeing insanity filter all the time.

step into the newer experience cus u want the thing that force u to do so is not really that bad, no matter how useless it is, remember clearing the metheus puzzle? its actually the first reason i go deep into ruins. its about 1 year after i play the game. its not like how this chair bp can be obtained really easy. u actually need go deeper to the ruins to find that six slotted chest. just for something that really not a reward that give u advantage surviving in game. its just for a skin.

now getting to pearl island is getting is easier beacuse the first bottle u find will always tell u where she is.
grass boat oar and drift wood oar is not tied to any machine its just a babying u to visit ur nana.
there is time where those change is not even exist. u can go to pearl as early as u find the first bottle that u find near the edge of water.

its really pushing u to the places u might not consider of going. and for me its a good thing.
once u felt comfortable going in and out it will not feel too hard anymore.
just bring couple of mushrooms to lose and heal ur sanity and run as fast as u can. u will be able to get the blueprint as early as u stepped into the world.
