Antynomity
Whether or not it's me moving away from gaming and starting to live my life, or just plain out burnout from the game, I can never, ever get into the 'groove' of playing this game again. After months of not playing actively, I still can't get to enjoy just playing the game from in-game day to in-game day anymore, tried making new worlds, didn't work, only ended up being sleepy through-out the play sessions. Tried playing different characters, yeah that does make it a bit more interesting, however it is still the same game I'm playing, the game I have mastered the survival aspect of for years and the only times I die is when I make a very stupid choice to underprepare for a boss fight or I misinput something that causes a butterfly effect of me losing a ton of health (overconfidence). I still remember watching countless guides to even try and get started with the game, and even then every single time I played it felt fun, exciting, even if it was really just the same tasks for the first few days and then a mandatory death to deerclops. It's kind of sad for me, especially since Klei has gotten really good at making fun and creative fights, the last few bosses really showcase that, and now the new beta content it looks like a lot of things I wanted from the moon back in 2019 when the lunar island was first introduced, but I guess that was too late for me, too late to save my enjoyment of the game. Point is, enjoy things while they last, I will still try to play this game occasionally, especially during betas and updates because new content is pretty damn good (with some things I dislike which i have made clear over the last few months on the forums), and has a ton of pontential of growing into something awesome (let them cook, please don't have a knee jerk reaction, both the "filthy megabasers" and "gigachad survivalists" of the forums, it won't make it better for anyone and will only bring more 'sweeping things under the rug' changes like what happened with moon quay pirate raids, aka nerfing them to the ground spawn chance wise without actually making them fun to fight.) Have a good one. EDIT: This is not a 'I quit' Thread. I am not quitting like I said, just taking a step back due the reasons I state in the top of the post. I also want to see if anyone relates to this, this much feels like all those videos discussing why certain games 'arent fun anymore', usually because the player either grew out of it or played it way too much and got burned out, yet somehow I am one of those people who have been playing Minecraft for years and I have not experienced that, once again, have a good one. BezKa
Experiencing the game for the first time and discovering everything about it is the very best experience I ever had with a game. Figuring stuff out on my own and slowly getting better at facing all the challenges was a side of gaming I had never seen before, it's a real shame Klei is stepping away from that approach. Do take that break. Forcing yourself to have fun is a paradox. And there's going to be plenty of content for you to check out once you come back Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/151365-i-wish-i-could-play-this-game-for-the-first-time-again/#findComment-1669099 Share on other sites

Thanks for commenting. Forgot to add Oxygen Not Included, another Klei title, I got into it at times just a little bit just to drop it when I got stuck, that's also a candidate. I highly recommend looking into RogueLite-likes, it’s hard to get bored of a game where every playthrough is randomly generated & the game is intentionally geared for the odds to be against you. If you haven’t played it yet try Spelunky or Spelunky 2, that little game keeps me occupied for hours on end, and the TL:DR imagine a Mario or Sonic game where every level from beginning to end was randomly generated- That’s Spelunky in a Nutshell… and no I’ve never managed to beat a single playthrough with it Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/151365-i-wish-i-could-play-this-game-for-the-first-time-again/#findComment-1669182 Share on other sites
Copyafriend
Terraria is honestly a fantastic gem of a game and one i would recommend thoroughly. if you want a more survival oriented game: project zomboid is fantastic. It’s very mechanic driven, so you will likely get that wonderful “looking a thousand things up to play it” feeling i would also recommend branching out a bit: rimworld is a favorite that i’ve never seen someone not fall in love with if they give it a genuine chance. bloons tower defense 6 is a violently addictive tower defense game, you will hear popping in your dreams avorion is a interesting space exploration and combat game where you can control an entire fleet of ships in a proper 3d space environment like i’ve never seen before (i never hear anyone talking about it though) FTL is a fantastic management roguelite and finally i would recommend: taking a break from games. read a book watch a series, just take a breather from actually sitting down and playing a game. It does wonders for your enthusiasm, i promise. I assume i listed a few that were already on your radar lol i tried to list games that were very mechanically interesting, as thats what you said drove your dont starve interest and if you meant taking a break, we all need it from time to time so we dont burn out, no shame and nothing wrong with it Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/151365-i-wish-i-could-play-this-game-for-the-first-time-again/#findComment-1669425 Share on other sites
Starlogy
I've felt this way about Don't Starve for years now. DST is one of my favorite games ever made, and I would love for there to be a magical way to erase my memories of this game just to learn them all over again. Maybe when I'm an old fart in diapers I'll have that experience, and thankfully no matter what happens Don't Starve will be available to play forever.
