Increase how many items Pirate Stashes can hold

Recommended Posts

I think that they should have reverted that, as it was a good strategy to just clear the island except one mokey hut, then let the mokey gather everything for you so you didn't need to take everything home by boat.

But If they can't for reasons, They could make it generate another stash when the first gets full.

On the same note, I think that the first pirate stash could be always generated on monkey island, as it would help to reveal where you would need to go.

I'm guessing here, but I think the reason the inventory limit was added was because players would dig the pirate stash only to be greeted with 100s of items that the player would then have to clean up.

If that was indeed the case, what should have occurred imo (if it's even possible), is that those Cutlasses should have been what gets deleted since they were the bulk of what was being added in the stash anyways.

It doesn't make sense that stashes were full of cutlasses and bandanas,

I think what's happening with this is that these were items that the monkeys were holding before entering their home and once they entered, the game counted it as an inventory item and then added it to the stash :'(

They don't do that anymore, items from monekys are marked as "personal possessions" and not added to the stash.

It is funny. Though i remember a dwarf star coming out of one and causing a massive fire

The more unfortunately possible(and in my opinion, likely) scenario is it wasn't even meant to be impactful on gameplay, but was rather done mainly as cleanup on the technical side of things.

The original implementation for the Pirate Stash was a bit rough and they had moved it to make use of the inventory component instead like many other entities like players do. The inventory component comes with a set amount of slots to be set and I suppose they had chosen 20 thinking it'd be good enough.

I do not want to accuse the developers for having done this change without seeing the gameplay implications of it, but it really does feel this was not considered all the way through. Especially with things to take into account like the fact that single stacks take up separate slots when they are being stolen separately, and even if that was fixed. The existence of equippable items, and multiple players, and the amount of unique items in such a largely expanded game makes the stash fill and recycle itself out so incredibly quickly that it it feels insane this stealth change(I do not blame the change being stealth, as like I mentioned earlier, I believe they had meant it to be purely technical clean up and not something to substantially affect gameplay) wasn't addressed in any way.

A little bit of time on the island and the stash unfortunately cleanses its entire 20 item inventory just from monkeys picking up the seeds that birds drop naturally!

I would like the limit to just be removed entirely personally in some way, but I would be fine with a item cap increase if its high enough to the point that the player should not feel they'd ever have to worry about their items actually starting to be deleted.
