Reworks/additions to some mini/seasonal bosses

Recommended Posts

Anyone can post their ideas here too, not just for seasonal and mini bosses, here is some of my ideas to improve some mini bosses and seasonal bosses:

At the start of the second year: these changes will happen

Tree Guard

The tree guard has a new attack, sneezing!

  • The tree guard will occasionally do a sneeze attack, this causes it's leaves to puff out and deal some small aoe damage that knocks back players and enemies. The treeguard's regular melee will be fully charged after using it.
  • The aoe is bigger than it's normal attack range, and depends on the size of the guard, but you can tell when it will use it due to a short animation before it attacks.
  • This attack happens 2x more often in Spring.

The idea is to keep the tree guard basic, but add some variety to them in combat. Keep in mind marble armour has a secret perk of reducing knockback, this secret perk is rarely used due the miniscul amount of knock back mechanics and mobs in the game, it would be cool to see it be used more.

Deerclops

Deerclops now has a small frost breath attack that happens every once in awhile, freezing those who it hits.

  • It is esentially a mini short ranged ice breath that deerclops uses in a 240° angle
  • The best way to dodge it is by circling deerclops, you are able to dodge it while next to deerclops aswell.

Imagine Deerclops blowing frost as if they were hushing, the best way to kite deerclops nowdays is to circle them, so it would be cool to expand upon that idea.

Moose/Goose

Moose Goose now has the ability to occasionally boost themselves backwards, knocking nearby players and mobs in the opposite direction, and then firing two tornados with weak homing. (It is all a single combo attack)

  • Somewhat inspired by uncompromising mod by letting Moose Goose use tornados, though simplified for vanilla with a new backwards boost combo.
  • You get some hindsight to when Moose Goose will use this attack as you can see them charge up their wings.
  • Moose Goose health reduced to 5k health points, as the fight would start to drag on due to Moose Goose's dodging.

It seems like a cool idea to let Moose Goose use their tornados. The backstep makes it feel like you are fighting a skittish Goose, and again with some new knockback mechanics.

Those are all the ideas i have thought of, what have you thought of?

I wish for more difficulty that comes to the world naturally, without needing to opt into it.

Something to spice up year 2 and onwards would be a delight, honestly. Nothing dramatic or over the top, but just something to show the world grows alongside you!

I made everything happen year 2 now since everyone wants that

Though i still feel like deerclops should become or be like feastclops permantly or something since feastclops is the superior and more fun version. I still feel like moose goose is a boring boss though.

I don't mind any big changes to bosses as long as it is in the second year (except crab king and any boring boss), so new players don't get lost.

I agree.

I want to mention some attack types don't need to have damage. Examples are fw's nightmare stun, and moosegoose's handslot stun. I'm thinking, the leave sneeze doesn't have to have damage either.

If it didn't have damage it's whole purpouse would to be annoying since it wont be an actual threat.

I think threat is one kind of annoying, maybe? If you want it to be threat, it'll be automatically annoying.

I think it should be less of a threat. Because monsters from chopping trees shouldn't be as easy as it currently is (side effect is huge amount of sanity drain from treeguards). Anyways, that's my thought process.
