Before the beta ends... (Wormwood)

Recommended Posts

Don't even know if anyone cares about my opinion on WW.

Anyway I've always wanted to make a farm utilizing the Bramble Traps. However the major downside was the traps damage walls and fences. Since skills are leaned into so heavily, maybe add a Bramble Wall or also make it so the traps do not damage walls or fences? (Been asking for it for a long time now and now is the perfect time)

Can there be a cap on the number of Saladmanders/Carrats/Lightbugs that actively follow Wormwood but not a cap on how many you can create? For instance, if I create a 3rd Saladmander the oldest one will stop following Wormwood and just roam around the world. I want nothing more than to fill the world with Saladmander cuties even if they do not actively help Wormwood. (Also HD Saladmander pretty please.)

Because I am me and I hate the CP I am going to request remove the Plant Crafting skills (Sapling, Berry Bush, Monkeytail, Juicy Berry Bush, maybe lureplant too? probably not that one actually) and make a Crafting station for all your plant crafting needs. Could change the recipe to require Fertilizer since that isn't actually used in any crafting recipes at the moment. Idk what you would replace the 4 skills with but it would do something as to not actively encourage the Celestial Portal. Could replace skills with those related to wetness (I know some people want wormwood to play into being wet like Wurt but obviously in a vastly different way)

If you take the "Moon Shroom Cloud" skill can it also grant the ability to plant Moon Shrooms? Real difficult to gather them in any capacity especially since they cannot be farmed while regeneration is off. (Unlike other mushrooms).

I personally do not care about the Photosynthesis or the Petal production traits. Other people care about that so more power to them I wont request anything on their behalf because I care more about other skills.

The Fly Trap skill, I feel is meant to protect your crops from the fruit fly. However the LotFF only spawns, after 15 plants are fully grown, which in that situation makes it not really do anything. From what I have gathered most people want the trait changed or the loot changed. For loot changing, it could be so the seeds dropped from LotFF are just basic seeds instead of specific crop seeds. This would be rather nice as those have a chance to be Weeds. (Which we can identify with the trait! Synergy!) Alternatively (or also) have Fruit Flies be caught with a bug net and planted into the ground for a random Weed, like how butterflies can be planted into flowers. In future updates could also add more items for the weeds to be used but it has the potential. Currently we only have Tillweed Salve (if anyone remembers this item) and the Forget-me-lots tea so being able to more accessibly farm there would be a boon and reflected nicely with Wormwood's Fly Trap trait causing the LotFF to spawn more frequently.

Lastly a minor request. would it be possible to combine both Seed Sleuth and Butterfly friend skills into one. This is partially because assuming you pick all skills on the right side you are left with 2 skill points, or on the left side you are left with 1 skill point. Combining them into one skill point will allow players just slightly more freedom to mix and match what they want. It would also allow for players to go grab one full tree on left side and one full tree on right side with 4 points left over to grab two from left post CC and the 2 from right post CC. Also adding a 3rd skill to the post CC right side would balance it out and reinforce choice more, what that specific skill would do, idk maybe have a planar damage bonus since wormwood is from the moon? Something not thinking too much just food for thought.

Also can the Brightshade be neutral towards Wormwood? Please? Plant friends after all.

That's what I want for Wormwood before he is (hopefully) never touched again (so focus can be moved off of characters and onto global content). Idk if credentials matters, if they do, I have 1700 hours on Wormwood in DST, I play exclusively solo and do not swap characters via CP so I exclusively play one character for that world.

I love Wormwood, honestly if it wasn't for him and the RWYS update, I wouldn't still be playing DST.

Totally agree with this.

Ive said this from the very beginning of the beta, wormwood’s skill tree layout is badly configured. Whichever side you choose you are left with a couple of leftover skills that have nowhere else to go but underwhelming introductory skills.

Combining the two starter skills would be a step in the right direction to alleviate this. And would be 1 less wasted skill point.

Full neutrality wouldnt be good because then you’d have no way to lure the vines out to start combat without hitting the plant and getting planar thorned in the face or using a ranged weapon.

BUT reduced aggro range similar to what WX has with clockworks would be perfect.

——

Getting rid of the plant crafts or heavily condensing the skill points would be ideal but i doubt that will happen unfortunately.

5 slots for potential cool skills completely wasted.

And yeah, i was disappointed planting moon shrooms wasnt added this patch. Im thinking they dont want to create the art for it lol just for wormwood alone

That is actually a great idea, don't play much WX completely forgot about that passive. Yea that would work very very well with WW, great call.

And yea. Idk why some crafts are added to skills. (Like the woodie walking stick. unless it has durability (idk haven't actually looked at woodie much cause I care about WW) then you take a skill for a single craft then have a dead skill).

Agreed. especially when it comes to ww who’s base kit has a lot of room for improvement when u compare it to the rest of the cast post refresh. Hes like willow.

His RWYS mini “refresh” was mostly just QoL stuff and mini farming flavor perks..

So I feel like WW’s entire tree could be made baseline and he still wouldnt be broken lol.

Because 7 slots r wasted on the plant crafts and seed/butterfly skill.

1 slot is fly trap.

And 3 slots are the joke cultivator pets.

The useful stuff thats left can almost entirely be covered with 15 points.. almost

Me who is going the 2 of the joke points because I love Saladmanders. :love_heart:

You know about Steeped Lunar Essence right? The halloween event potion that transforms stuff into their lunar version

sapling -> lunar sapling

dragon fruit -> saladmander.
etc

saladmanders created this way just roam the world.

you’ll need to farm lune trees for this but if u just wanna see saladmanders napping all over ur world this is a much better way to achieve it than lunar cultivator.

I, uh, did not know this. Ok. Screw those traits why is this locked behind halloween?! Thanks for the intel.

If your not one of those strictly “default or nothing” players, you can toggle hallowed nights to on at any time (I do it just so totally normal trees eyeballs glow) but the Mad Science Lab is a ton of fun.

If you prefer to play LEGIT, any world that’s been through Hallowed Nights and unlocked the Lab station can use it even after Hallowed Nights ends.

None of my worlds are long-term because there’s an annoying bug with the game that keeps wiping out all my save files (and I also get bored at some point and delete them to start fresh generated maps)
