JazzyGames
Having seen how beautifully effective the brightshade staff deals with the inkblights, I am convinced that a void staff would be the perfect solution to the current problem that we still have very few streamlined methods for quickly dispatching brightshade infestations. The reaper combo is about as effective as the brightshade sword combo towards deadly brightshades, and time wise there is little to be gained from making the gear. Currently I use almost exclusively pre-rift methods for clearing brightshades such as catapults or merms. Having an effective shadow method for this would certainly encourage players to engage with the new content and solve a glaring issue with the brightshade infestations still lacking effective options for clearing. What do you think?
Valase
I really liked your idea. Since the BS staff is good against multiple creatures, the "Shadow" staff should be good against stationary targets (Brightshades, CK and maybe the CC last phase), maybe it could attack for some small damage and then create a miasma around it's target (dealing really small damage every half second and slowing movement from enemies). Pet Rock
It'd be fitting for the reaper to deal a bit of bonus damage to brightshades and other plant-based creatures considering it's gardening utility. It would be nice to see more crafts on the shadow side though...
KevinDFruit
Brilliant ideas all three of you! I will add one idea I saw on Jazzy's stream (I think it was Malfario), shadow herbicide to kill brightshades easily. Another one is to collect acid rain from the cave's ponds. Edit: Also the herbicides make the brightshades not drop any loot, that way you have to choose to put in the effort to fight them to get the loot or clear them easily with herbicides but no loot. Well-met
the reap ability should just one shot a brightshade at the cost of durability.
Mike23Ua
Hear me out on this: Allow us to “Throw” the Reaper Scythe Like a Boomerang. Because I Really hate the idea of just adding a Shadow Staff that matches what BS Staff Does.
Krotux
Add a shadow staff that creates a dark hole like attack that continuously does damage to things that stay there. Imagine a mix between the starcaller staff and the weather pain.

It would deal more damage if more enemies were sucked in, like a black hole ejecting a lot of energy after consuming mass?

I'd make it summon a lingering AoE cloud that deals full Planar Damage per second when in the cloud. Then it's good for both crowd control and killing Brightshades. Yeah, it is the same problem as the brightshade staff where it is only good against the inkblights. If they gave the twins and splumonkeys shadow affinity, which for some reason they don't, i can see it being more useful.

I'd say not just Ink Blights. It's also good for Brightshades and crowd control, but only crowd control when combined with the Enlightened Crown. That in combination with Sanity food shreds hordes of mobs in seconds.
