Summer addition - smoldering chance reductors

Recommended Posts

There's some study about that trees reduce a lot of heat around the urban areas and overall making more shade around, likely also reducing the chance of smoldering? So I had the idea of that if you're doing urban building in DST trees could have a lot more use perhaps, the more trees the less chance to smolder perhaps? Create places with shades, cool the area around while places with least trees would have bigger chance of burning in summer? I mean this is probably best solution for natural sounding way to keep big bases mostly safe and decoration having value to builds.

Maybe we could assign smolder values to turfs instead. The most numerous turf that the player is currently near/loaded in determines frequency of which smolder can occur. For example, savannah is the dominate turf near the player, smolder will happen 3x as frequent. However if scaled flooring is dominate then it would be 0.05x as frequent. Grass land could be 1.25x, forest 0.75x, rock 2.0x etc etc

The above-average trees already do that. A vast area with dried up trees bunched together is a fire hazard on the other hand. If anything you want to leave space between items that may catch fire. Items that don't burn nor combust can be kept close together. The same goes for DST. Keep combustible structures under the above-average tree canopy and you are good to go.

The same thing goes for sailing. The less the clutter on a boat, the smaller the fire hazard.
