will the scrapbook just release like this?

Recommended Posts

first of all, i have no idea how klei works on things and set their deadlines and goals, i know that churning out an update every 1-2 months can in no way be easy, but the scrapbook just feels unfinished right now

i know 90% of more veteran players will never even look at it, but that doesn't mean it can't be fully fleshed out. i know combing over how many items and mobs there is in this game will surely take a lot of time, maybe they'll continue working on it past this update, but look at the cookbook or the plant registry. they were almost fully if not completely fleshed out within their own updates and had every feature anyone would ever need and them some

the scrapbook right now has many inconsistencies and errors (weird images and unusual information for some entries), some people will overlook it but they're still there, it's still one of the major features of this update

my only wish is that klei will keep working on the scrapbook past release, because i can see it genuinely being helpful here and there, if it was more complete and fleshed out

The funniest thing about scrap book is, even though Klei made so much effort to make the game easier for new players by adding all those guidance, they still struggle.

The devs really want to make the game appeal to a larger audience for some reason.

While I was looking to prepare my mods for the Scrapbook (and I wish Klei would improve modding support for it asap), I could notice that there is some planned pages such as Biomes and Point of Interests, probably for worldgen features like Glommer Statue and such. I think there was others but that leaves hope the book data will be enhanced, I really wish I could provide more info to players in my mods directly in game in a natural manner such as that.

A biome summary would be interesting

I just wish it had a way to completely be disabled for people who don't want it at all (me)

i mean, they added a way to disable the notification (thank god), all it would really disable is the extra button in the pause menu i guess

I think it's because this new book includes everything in the game where the cookbook was only about crockpot meals and the plant registry was only about crops so the scope was much smaller. I'm sure it will be more fleshed out over time.

Wdym “for some reason”

trying to make the game more accessible to a wider audience is a good goal in of itself I think

helping new players is always good as long as it’s fun that’s literally all that matters

They literally added the option to disable death by starvation in a game called "Don't Starve". That's not helpful

Keyword: the option. If you need training wheels you can turn it on to get a grip on the basic mechanics before heading head-first into the juicy part of actually surviving.

As for the Scrapbook: it's an inferior option compared to looking up whatever you need on the wiki. That thing's like you have to assemble your own training wheels with the bolts missing.

Um...this has been an issue since A New Reign update (bee queen, toadstool, fuel weaver etc)

The former crafting UI has been a thing since the days of Chrome Don't Starve, and that has been changed in Wolfgang's smaller rework.
