I disagree since I like having extra slots, and there’s also an argument to use both since you can use an umbralla until you get into a fight where you can switch into your raincoat and a weapon to fight. This allows for useage for both without making each other entirely useless. There’s also adding specific mechanics to both so that there is more incentive to use them. Also by the time you kill fw what exactly in the caves are you exploring? What's the difference between hiding cold away, hiding boulders away, or hiding wildfires away would wildfires and boulders not being based on luck but a foregone conclusion suddenly make them better to you? I know this probably sounds crazy, but I'm not all that excited about playing Russian Roulette with my base. And safety measures like the ones for wildfires are effectively just still pulling the trigger and hoping the gun jams because of the wad of paper you stuck in the barrel. Can't really say much on this end I like to have a solution to a problem but unless it's replaced with something new I don't want it to be solved permanently passively as I don't feel it's engaging enough but I feel that that stems from us wanting different things at our cores. It could create a canopy like effect that the big trees have to tell you where is safe from boulders and where isnt. But no no, klei just wants boulders to magically not drop on bases now? There is no ingame logic for this. Like remove the boulders from dropping if you cant implement it in a fun or interesting way. Umbralla could have been fine as the only way to combat acid rain, if they gave it the ability to be deployed to protect an area or some other function. Thats abit more interesting than making yet another headslot item to combat weather effects. The second klei gets a wee bit of backlash, they freak out and go straight to boring easy "solutions" to peoples complaints. But they dont actually fix the problem, they just side line it as Mysterious box has said. Antynomity Posted June 8, 2023 Share Posted June 8, 2023 With the acid rain changes, I'm just hoping for an umbralla buff like a few of the suggestions from the bast, being able to place it on the ground for it to do it's job and for it to protect you from all things that can fall on your head, it'd be a pretty niche item but would have enough chances of really shining in some places in-game.
