What is your main critique with the lunar vs shadow arc so far?

anenemy no longer works to farm ag

Really? I can see why it'd be patched then at least, looks like AG won against s t a r f i s h in the end.

Back on topic, I do like the way they're starting the arc with rifts in the caves and surface. If anything, it'd be really nice to somehow keep the rifts stationary instead of appearing around the map randomly, maybe you could do something to them to make them never be able to close? They'll still have downtimes as if they close and do what they do, just not reposition and start having limits, at least for the lunar rift. like how many Deadly Brightshades can exist at a time. That'd be a little bit of extra control over their sporadic nature. Yes?

Maybe a structure like a "ward", preventing Brightshade Gestalts from targeting anything within it's radius, plants and crops, like a shadow scarecrow of some sort. That could be a craft for the shadow side?

I'm sure this has been said before, I'm just not able to know if that's the case.

much like multiple permanent Mushroom Lights requiring multiple CC kills.

You can turn on winters feast and put Klaus to max in world settings and farm festive lights. They're the OG permanent light for mushlamps.

You can get a fair few quite quickly by farming Klaus and Festive Deerclops (use Flares) and fishing the oasis in Summer.

I see...! Though, multiple CC kills aren't exactly dreadful other than the moonstorm events, the crown you get from the first fight turns all future fights into much easier ones, the provisions are quite minimal too.

If you avoid the entire lunar questline then I can see this being the best alternative, especially with how much loot max Klaus will simply give you, though it requires changing world settings which I tend to avoid talking about. Not anything wrong with that because it's really great you can change what you want in the world and you're free to play as you like, it's just difficult to apply to a standard experience, the discussions implying this standard experience unless expressed otherwise.

I feel the Moonstorms should have been the standard for how to approach new challenges in a boss event.

I almost always reactivate the event immediately after killing CC because while there's a big drawback (the moonstorms), there's also a big bonus as well (Enlightenment nights and permanent full moon). It does mean having to kill the Shadow Pieces before the CC and bringing my Desert Goggles everywhere, but I consider that a fair trade.

By contrast, there's really no passive benefit at ALL to the new events. The only "good" part about them is having more hostile mobs to farm for mediocre equipment.

I do hope it doesn't affect the volt goat farm, it's an absolutely genius finding. I have no problem with ag cheese because the fight is engaging for me.

I think it's just that user planted the anenemy at the wrong place, making them believe "it no longer works". I haven't seen anything about anenemy in the change logs

Well, it's known that anenemies get uprooted when planting directly on the spawn points for ag and broken clockworks.

Maybe that's the reason.

That does sound very plausible, I wouldn't know better.

I wouldn't exactly say there should be a passive benefit to having the rifts open, they're simply a newly introduced hazard to your world at least from how I see it, if anything more control over them would be great. I won't repeat what I said at the top of this page but being able to anchor them to a spot would let the rifts feel more invited to be a part of your world, more appealing as it's not just jumping from spot to spot, making ugly stains on your map that you have to clear by walking to and destroying anything the relocated rift is near. Sure the Deadly Brightshades are very invasive to the surface which is kind of their purpose, but that's more of a problem with them and not the rifts. How you're unable to do much about their invasive nature except fight them over and over, and that they'll always be spawning as this rift is just a part of your world from now on. The scarecrow thing I mentioned would help with tolerating them as it's just something you're dealing with from now on, you should be able to relieve the weight a bit with options.
