Too inconvenient to use set bonus at caves.

New armors like Void set or Brightshade set have set damage boost, means you need to equip both armor pieces at the same time, while holding the weapon. This means you need to give up using entire equipment slots to get full boost. Now the shadow rift is out, and you need to fight in the caves where most of the places are always dark. Which means you need a light source and equip 3 slots of planar set items at the same time. Additionally you need to use rain gear or winter gear depends on the situation. Light, insulation, wetproof, armor, helm, weapon at the same time.

Also most of the players prefer using backpacks, there's too small options players can use. Of course you can drop lantern or call dwarf stars each time you move or fight, and there's Warly's glow berry mousse to use set bonus, but they're a bit situational and inconvenient. Imagine if you go around caves and found shadow rift, the new shadow mobs encourages you to use planar set items, so you drop your lantern, backpack to fight each time you want to farm new materials... Feels a wee bit frustrating to me?

An other way to give player extra light source without requiring an equipment slot would be great, like an alternative of glow berry mousse or an equipment that can be turn on within your inventory like thermal stone. Or adding a new kind of void gear or give already existing void set new perk related to light can help player manage these problems. There's only 4 new recipe currently, so there's more possibility since it's the early time of beta.

 

tl;dr : We need a new light source that does not need any equipment slots like glow berry mousse, WX-78 light circuits, but character-universal, to fully take advantage of set bonus. New consumables, or new void set bonus, anything.

I am now officailly a follower of lightbug believers.

 

Sadly they're a bit vulnerable to earthquakes and AoE, but they'll do!

tbh I'm on the fence on set bonuses.  They are really interesting in how they ramp up the shadow weapon and bs staff, but you aren't wrong that all of the situational gear really hinders letting loose on these things.  I kinda don't mind it, provided we actually get opportunities where we can use it.  I don't think light or temp are big issues b/c we have plenty of ways to handle those BUT the acid rain defies this by requiring 1 specific item to deal with...  Unless you're wicker to turn off the rain, you're kinda stuck.  Let the gear melt / take damage over time or forgo the cool set bonus :\
