Uhh.. yeah about that. Your probably thinking of a Boat Train using a bunch of magnets and whatever.. I’m talking about my very pretty moving boat carousels which I decorate with WintersFeast trees and presents sometimes & watch rotate round & round as I sail the ocean in the direction I want to go in.. Changing it so masts are turned in direction WITH the Rudder Wouldve smashed this boat into that land mass to the left there.

Eh, it wouldn't ruin stationary deco boats.  I could do without them moving straight while spinning, that is such a small thing to consider compared to how they would work as an improved navigation component and how logically that is like... how rudders work...

Not going to lie, I’m heavily confused by this.. what would even be the point in steering wheels anymore if rudders also rotate masts? I could just “delete” my steering wheel and use a rudder.

Also- The Rudder let’s you rotate the boat Bumpers on your boat to line up with, and smash into SeaStacks more easily without needing to worry about your MASTS turning the protective bumper away from what your intentionally trying to smash into it with.

Rudders steer quicker, but wheels are more precise.  They'd both be useful.

tbh I don't smash into sea stacks very much.  You clear them once and you get your boating lanes.  They take some effort to clear, but you don't NEED to smash through them at any point in the game.

Oh, but smashing into stuff with a boat is a very important core part of the boating experience! (Not trying to be sarcastic or funny.. I’m being legit here.)

Several things on the ocean directly interact with being smashed into with a boat.

Such as- Resources in the WaterLogged Biome. (Great Trees, and the Driftwood Trees)

If you use a Pickaxe to carefully paddle to and mine SeaStacks the rocks from said SeaStacks break and sink into the ocean, smashing into them with the boat however.. causes those rocks to land on deck of the boat (a way to collect rock resources while out on water)

Some people say you need to use some sort of late game staff to snag the resources before they sink or whatever.. but I don’t feel like ocean content should EVER require that much.

I had a "new tech" strat that involved an opening/closing gate using statues to wall one half of a boat that you can rotate via the rudder. In practice, it didn't work too well, though, since mobs that want to jump to your boat will just fall into the ocean and respawn at a random spot on land nearby.
