situations where the dreadstone gear shines

Recommended Posts

If I’m playing Willow, I just wear it constantly, typically with a Magi, so that I am constantly getting fuel.

If I need to do something else I just unequip it after killing a terrorbeak, use Bernie to help with whatever I may be doing, or pop a couple cooked green caps.

It’s regeneration makes carrying armor materials unnecessary, which opens up some inventory slots for other things.

I don’t like it for extended boss fights due to its lower durability. I imagine it could be done if you pair both parts of the set together and maintain a low sanity, or just stay insane with Bernie to get the faster regeneration.

I havent actually played with the armor But it seems like its pretty much The same as using a beefalo. Realatively health wise.
One armor piece has basically the same health threshold as the beefalo low hp warning.

beefalo regenerate 6.9 hp  every 10 seconds

Dread stone at full sanity and no extra pieces regen 8.4hp every 14 seconds.
Can be lowered to 1.25 hp a second at lowest sanity and double armor bonus.
So if wearing both and at the lowest sanity your armor is getting 2.5 hp a second.
Meaning every 27 seconds your armor will regen the health lost from taking a standard boss hit 75 DMG
From near broken to full hp both armor slots will take 672 seconds or about 1 day and 6 segments

Yeah its more totally for just occasional damage.  you could use it for some of the quicker fights where you are not taking that much damage.

But anything like beequeen is out of the question.  considering beekeeper hats have 1050 hp

So its interesting.  I would still rather use a beefalo. lol actually would be an interesting combo to use with a beefalo since you would have double regen without needing to worry about it breaking
or even like triple regen. get wx with regen hp. for the regen armor

While talking about armors I personally don't like the eye mask. I feel like I should since its like repariable armor and im wendy but like I just treat it as normal armor and it breaks during boss fights.  Thats me just being bad lol
But since i normally farm pig skins im used to armor being expendable. maybe which is why  I don't like these harder to get armors lol

Dreadstone armour excels for some characters over others.

you left out wanda! Life is good for wanda when wearing this. She actually has a use for nmf/insanity. Plus, shadows are ez-pz for this grandma.

All in all, it's a good piece of armor for certain survivors (like this person noted). People need to realize that this won't be super powerful because that would mess up the game balance. The game needs more challenges, not more equipment that takes you to the endgame even faster than you can already reach it right now. This piece of armor is good in certain situations and it offers greater gameplay options, which is always good. It can be better/more "OP" but I'd say it serves its purpose well as is.

I like it for bosses that I'm primarily kiting rather than tanking to save on Thulecite gear.

I especially like it for Dragonfly, since I end up wasting a crown by the end of the fight if I take too many hits, but with the armor, I don't have to worry about wasting a crown and can instead use the crowns elsewhere.

oh come on lakhnish, you of all people can neutralize dragonfly with a few grass suits and a spear (and 3.5 perogies)

Could I? Maybe.

But would I have fun doing that? No, and I'd probably use a lot more resources on average and be a lot more miserable in comparison.

It's just not good, they should re-do a lot of damage and protection values for mobs and armours respectively, otherwise all future sets if there are any planned will feel uninspired like this one, especially since they nerfed the chest piece of the armour and yet didn't make it the same crafting recipe as the helmet? What?

Well from the 2023 roadmap, we might be able to wear backpack with body armour soon (making all body slot armour competitive with headslot armour), in which case making both crafting recipes the same makes sense for future content.

It was confirmed to not be the case
