Regolith really needs to have more use.

Dumb question about all the rail bridges in the exchanger part, They must only be built after there is a steady stream of igneus rock being transported or else the regolith would jump across straight up to the yellow output line as soon as a free slot is available on the output rail?

Not dumb! Just like JRup said, you prefill it. The extra twist is to use an Element Sensor after the loader to control the output so that the rails always stay full.

I haven't tried building it mirrored, but be careful around the heating element. With a vertical heating element of 1 tile width, the rails seem to eject magma to the left, which this build takes advantage of. When mirrored, this might mean it will eject it to the side with the components. You can just extend the width to 2 tiles if this happens (only touch the right most tile with the regolith).

Here is how the rails are laid out.

Quick and shameless ad: you can use "Combined Conduit Display" mod to make such images much more readable - rails, pipes and logic wires will be displayed on top of other buildings, making whole image less confusing
