for about 5 minutes until klei patches the method you use

Weird take when the most popular method of absolutely cheesing the Bee Queen (Winona catapults) has remained untouched for the last 3 years despite cries of it being overpowered at the time. I don't think I can ever remember even one time that a Bee Queen strat was patched.

winona catapults are
1. not cheese
2. not the most popular
The 2 most popular methods were patched (that being the fire farm and the mole method)

I think at the very least it’s fair to say that if a method gets patched out that it wasn’t Klei’s Intended method/Methods.

I say this because as a gamer: I’m always curious to know what the Developers vision for their game is, like how we the players are supposed to engage their games as opposed to the ways we the players discover to engage their games.

With DST being a Open Sandbox with tons of tools, resources and strategies there’s really no right or wrong way to handle a situation AS LONG AS… That Situation isn’t clearly “Cheese/Cheating”

What I mean by that is- Getting a boss stuck on its Loot Sack so it can’t attack you and you can easily kill it= Cheese/Cheating and was patched.

I don’t think it’s cheating if you want to build a million catapults or bunny/pig/Merm houses near a boss..

I don’t think it’s cheating if you mass produce herds of Beefalo to kill bosses by there sheer numbers.

I don’t think it’s cheating if you kite one boss to another boss or summon the Eye/Twins of Terror down onto a boss..

I DO Think it’s cheating if you put chess pieces on a boat then sink it without having to fight the boss.

I don’t think it’s cheating if you want to abuse Deerclops A.I. to target and destroy created structures over prioritizing killing the player so you intentionally plant chests of Gunpowder for him/her to bait themselves into.

I would love to know what the actual developers intentions were when designing X, Y or Z

like for example if you look at concept art for the Moon Quay update: the Wonkey curse was supposed to be punishing, you see Wilson begging the Monkey Queen to remove his curse and everything, but when that content actually released so many people complained about it that it got Nerfed to the point that it’s mostly not even a threat anymore.

And I strongly feel like maybe that’s why even GOOGLE now categorizes DST as a “Farming Game” instead of a Survival Game like it’s predecessor.

I would personally love to see Klei redesign a lot of content, if bosses are so unfun that people cheese them with unintended methods, then redesign the fight and make it actually fun to want to engage with.

Same with the Moon Quay curse & pirate raids some people enjoyed the fact it felt like an actual survival challenge, when now it’s patched to be mostly forgettable- Why can’t Klei satisfy both audiences by giving us more control over how things react in our world Gen?

A great example of this is Klei recently added a patch so players can keep hound waves toggled to ON but can toggle OFF the Fire and Ice Hounds that would have accompanied those waves at later stages of the game.

This allows ME to keep Hound Waves toggled ON and play with my NOOB friends who would’ve attacked fire hounds and burned the entire forest down by accident. Instead of me having to turn hound waves completely OFF I now get to have my cake & eat it too.

And content like Bosses and Moon Quay curse should be no exception to this. Personally I avoid bosses because they’re intended to be fought with a group of players and fighting them alone means having to over-prepare or think up some creative method to fight them alone.
But if I could toggle those bosses to be “fair & fun” to a solo player by maybe reducing their health, damage or the attacks it can perform to make the fight feel less tedious and more fun- is another example of have my cake and eat it too.

You can also say the same for a larger group of players- maybe the boss has too little health or it’s A.I. isn’t programmed to be a challenge for groups of 6+ players so it’s easy to just beat it to death quickly, in this case: giving the boss MORE Health, More Damage, and new attacks would make this fight fun for a whole group who is engaging with it.

I guess what I’m trying to say is if Hound Waves can now be customized to the players personal liking/skill level- Why can’t everything else about the game..? Including Bosses….

Especially bosses! There would be less Cheese/cheat strategies if the fight felt fair & fun.

Do you think shadowboat is still cheating if gunpowder is used to kill things instead of drowning them(now that it no longer works anyway so the devs agree with you on that one), given that gunpowder's purpose is designed in line with that?

If Klei feels that gunpowder should be Nerfed (especially now that the game has canons & canon balls) then I guess it would be..? But at the same time- if I bring enough Kaboom, things should still go Kaboom.. so adjust the numbers if their too low or whatever: But I think the player who gathers enough Kaboom should still be able to be rewarded for that.

i think they intended for you to kill individual grumble bees with friends but i dont know if they had any plan beyond that, specially for solo, since when youre soloing her any kind of strat you can come up with looks like a cheese
