thanks to everybody quoting me with replies, and also to people giving advice in this thread.

i didn't realise how much variety the beefalo's can eat. that makes it so much better.

and there are multiple different ways to go about taming.

it goes to show how old my knowledge was. i must have got this at the very beginning when taming was first implemented.

QoL no, they're pretty fine. Expanding upon, hell yes. More saddles, more interactions, equipment, interesting food (buffs), new tendencies and specialisations, maybe a bit of new UI telling beef's stats

How about making healing items (salves, poultices) have 4x effect on the beefalo just like food? Would make those items more appealing because you wouldn't have to go through the trouble of bundling/unbundling.

2. Domestication progress indicator at 60%. Because tamed beefalo's domestication naturally decreases, and we have no idea how worse it is, we need a warning or a reminder that it's getting wild so that we can fix it. The indicator can be a message from examining beef, or a special animation.

Vanilla beefalo domestication is pretty much a dark unknown box, which is fine as is. But we need indicators or beefalo animations to warn us about beefalo's status just like the existing 200HP red screen, because a tamed beefalo require a major 2 hour+ effort. This effort deserves some minor QoL.

Quoted for emphasis. I have tamed many a beefalo and done so long before Year of the Beefalo hit. I had trouble understanding what so many people in here are complaining about. Especially since beefalo taming has been massively improved.
The comments in this thread show that many players have very little knowledge about the different mechanics surrounding beefalo domestication. In my opinion the main culprit is the lack of ingame feedback.

A beefalo has 5 relevant stats: health, hunger, obedience, tendency and domestication. With some time and experiments most of these can be figured out, though I strongly recommend consulting a guide. The exception is domestication, which is very poorly represented. There is no way to tell about its value until the beef is fully tamed and changes its fur. Because of this people don't realize that the beef doesn't lose domestication while being ridden, while asleep, while near a salt lick or while not starving. If there were further changes to be made, I would second that their should be some sort of ingame indicator that hints at the beef's domestication value.
