I would prefer my pilots and space traveler to have more food option than berry sludge. The game literally designed an amazing food system along with space travel but cant use most of it because space travel spoil food.

It's a building that use plastic and solid carbon dioxide to deepfreeze food for space travel.
2 option:

  • Basic packaging - Only use plastic to wrap the food, the food will now always be in sterilized atmosphere and have refrigerated temperature increased by 20C.
  • Deepfreeze packaging. - Use plastic and solid carbon dioxide to deepfreeze food, they will always be in deepfreeze when temperature below 30C and refrigerated when below 60C. However food quality will be decreased by 1. Frozen type based food wont be affect by this decrease (frost bun + frost burger +berry pie?)

I like this idea

I would also suggest other balancing options instead of just shifting the refrigeration temperature (which seems somewhat moot once you get it that high).

1. Have wrapping simply reduce the spoiling rate due to temperature (so something that spoils at 13% per cycle at room temperature now only spoils at 1.3% per cycle for deep frozen food, or 6.5% for simple wrapping).

2. And/or combine the above with wrapped food have a very low thermal conductivity (so it starts cold, and heats up very slowly).

I suggested plastic packaging before as a way to use the leftover plastic lategame. It doesn`t have to be infinite durability but if it extended it by a considerable amount it would be enough for space travel. Pickled mealwood and grubfruit preserve already last a long time in regular fridges (33 cycles is more than enough) if other stuff can be brought close spoil rates of those it would be sufficient.
