One small tweak that would make Wickerbottoms rework stand out

Recommended Posts

Wickerbottom(not Maxwell or anyone else) should be able to wield the books(or select books) as a weapon as seen in the forge, with a chance to trigger it's effects. If a book activates, it could potentially consume extra durability. Damage should depend on the usefulness/ease of craft of the book for example. the bee book could have spear damage, "on tentacles" should have the damage of a tentacle spike and "The end is nigh" should have the highest damage as it's considered the least useful book, which would lead to some interesting combat choices. we already have the animations for attacking with a book so hopefully it wouldn't be too hard to implement. This change will also make Wickerbottom a less craft and forget character.

Wickerbottom is not a "craft and forget" player, even for true Maxwell mains, as of the recent hotfix. Arguably she was never in that position to begin with, but there are other threads for that conversation.

I do like the idea of book slapping to trigger some bonus effects, like with the thulecite club's shadow tentacles, but from a fluff perspective I can't imagine Wicker mistreating her books like that as a general rule.

Thrown into gladiatorial hell mode combat? Okay sure, the books can handle a little abuse. For regular day to day survival? Definitely not.

Random chaotic effects whanever she slaps anything with it would be extremelly funny

Playing Shipwrecked anytime the player hits a Jellyfish it jolts them with an electrical surge showing their bones, it would make sense for a book that summons lightning bolts to trigger the same effect when used to smack mobs.
