Early thoughts on the Reworks

Recommended Posts

I feel like Wortox's changes put him in a really good spot as he now has a edge in mid to late game when his abilities became a lot less useful

As for Walter his poop pellet change makes them a lot more practical to use vs groups although it would be nice if his freeze, slowdown and cursed rounds got another look as I feel like they're all lacking in one way or another as well. As for for the change to Woby her new damage threshold really does make using her as a mount a much better consideration and it really does feel nice though if I'm allowed to be a little greedy could we have her hp increased from 8 to 10 so as to make her buck slightly more forgiving when using lower tiered armors like log suits and football helms.

For Wickerbottom I'm mostly a fan of how her rework was handled I feel like her new books are interesting enough to mess around with and fairly cheap considering they can regenerate at a decent rate however there are two books I'm not a huge fan of one more than the other.

The grumble bee book while not seeming out of place feels weird to me simply because of how many character specific minions we already have currently we have:

Spiders, merms, a stuffed bear, catapults, a ghost, and shadow minions along with the newly added bee minions I'm starting to feel like next for Wilson's rework we're gonna have beard minions that being said I'm not against the book staying it's just a minor gripe

The other one which I think should be removed is the full moon book not only because of the problems it introduces but the things the full moon offers feels far too powerful to be something you can do with so little effort it completely undermines a large amount of game mechanics and it just feels really weird in terms of the story.

Lets not throw the baby out with the bath water now…

make it require an iridescent gem if needs be and make it not reset the cycle if possible and all problems are fixed.

This is wickerbottom’s entire gimmick though . In the era of the ‘big tr*o’ i remember people saying this pretty much word for word too when the most ‘op’ thing wicker could do was growing stacks of grass and twigs with lureplant+horticulture.

With regards to lore concerns, this could potentially be resolved from her animated short. The menu animation already shows wicker in a way we’ve never seen her before namely levitating in mid-air lmao. Shes also been featured in most if not all RoT videos where she plays an integral part in setting up the whole CC thing and we know from her examination quote that she learned the grimoire knowledge from the archives.

the book just needs to be made more expensive (in every way) to align with how powerful it is. Its too cool and opens up too many possibilities for solo players and organized groups to simply remove.

I don't feel like any kind of explaining can make the moon not feel like a trivial force if this book is allowed to exist at least in my eyes I mean we've been able to use shadow magic and the like but this is the moon a major force in the game we're talking about here what next Maxwell summoning the throne/Charlie to do his bidding?

I don't know it still would feel very iffy to me.

And also make it 1 use then needs to be repaired before reuse- 75%-90% durability lost hmmmmm?

This bee book really put me on edge about Klei's decisions about where they want to go. It's just too weird and out of character for her to just create bees out of thin air and that's it? Conceptually it's bad enough, but the uses are even worse, it's really just bees that kill everything for you, there's no preparation, strategy, nothing, you use the book and you're winning and period. This has nothing to do with Wickerbottom
Now about the other books, I really hope that Klei pays a little more attention to End is Nigh, and would even rather replace these bees for it, even though that would probably be weaker. I just hated the bees.

To be serious, the recipe should be changed to require royal jelly.

Don't play dumb, tentacles have a lot of difference, in the preparation, in the risks and uses. Bees are simply a deadly weapon that she makes almost for free then annihilate anything she wants in the entire world if she chooses to, by casually walking towards enemies.

What being a beekeeper has to do with Wickerbottom playstyle? Tentacles aren't pets, they aren't here to help you that directly.

Edit: Tentacles even have that "occult" symbolism.

I mean, the bees arent proper minion, you can hit them on accident and they have a hoard mentality making them fairly dangerous if such a thing Happens.  I like the bees because bees are cool and not that strong

Only issue I noticed with bee's is if you got to close to wicker/ them they'd attack you. Not sure if that's a wortox/ monster only thing tho

I don't think it's that out of character for her to control creatures. She can summon birds, tentacles and fish out of thin air. I think the recipe should be changed to Royal Jelly, so it would be more of a boss drop. That would create an additional layer of strategy. Either you want Jelly Beans or summons.

If we're talking about being out character, I'm more concerned about Pyrokinetics Explained. Because this function belongs to Willow as an upgraded magic version of her lighter.
