Hornete
Hi there! So, I LOVE the introduction of magnets and I think it's going to be extremely fun making boat trains and carousels, but I wanted to talk about some experiences I've had. In an endless world with friends I set up a 5 boat train that I handled by myself and had a lot of problems with. Now, you can tell me that "Maybe you shouldnt have tried doing a 5 part boat train by yourself"(with no bumpers), but I want to make it very clear that the issues I ran into I also ran into with just two boat trains, with that out of the way, let me talk about the issues I've had. Boat Magnets have a constant set Max Velocity Currently, the boat magnets have a constant set max velocity that stacks like masts do, and starts with a value of 3 max velocity(I believe it should actually be 2.5 max velocity and stack exactly like masts to match up with them, but currently there is another value named 'CATCH_UP_SPEED' that is ALWAYS added to the max velocity even if the magnet is caught up with its beacon which leads me to believe this is a bug). I think this causes a lot of issues with magnets constantly slamming into the boat ahead, because it does not slow down its max velocity or the such. If the magnet made the calculations to lower its max velocity if say the lead boat is going slower than the boat with the magnet, I think that'd already improve things a ton. You might ask, "Why not just slow the lead boat slowly?" Well believe me I tried that, but the precision to slow your boat that slowly is so so so small it feels really really hard, I do think there should still be some work put into putting the lead boat to a slow stop, but currently it feels extremely hard to do that and I think the magnets adjusting their max velocity depending on the velocity of the boat ahead would be extremely helpful. Weird Boat Physics? I reported this as a bug, but in case it's not, I wanted to report it here again. For whatever reason, if you hit a boat from behind the direction it's heading, it will stop the boat even though it should just be pushing it further in the direction it was already going, right? This feels super weird and causes a consistent issue where boats will just start to clump up because oopsie, one of the boats slightly tapped the boat ahead and thus stopped it practically instantly and now all the boats behind are gonna start to clump up. Please let me know your thought below, I'm super curious to hear the problems and feedback you might have, Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/141014-suggestionsfeedback-lets-talk-magnets/ Share on other sites

Copyafriend
Also id like if magnets could be turned off at the structure without depairing it, for short distance “just take me there” moments. lionking102
Yesterday I also tried to connect two boats and with a sail it went horrible, leaks in the boat all the time. So if the magnets are for this they definetly need some work.
