Double-casting Pan Flute QOL suggestion

Recommended Posts

So I like to use the Pan Flute against Dragonfly as Webber, as when she goes enraged and you don't instantly cancel her transformation with the flute, all your spiders get instantly one-shot by her ground pound. It's a very short timing window and it's a little laggy with all the spiders and nurse healing as well.

Problem being that the Pan Flute cast gets interrupted very easily. My first fight I rolled back the server over and over, because it just wouldn't cast when I didn't spam click it. And then when you do spam click, it wastes two uses because apparently the second cast gets queued while the first one is still going. I'm tired of having to rollback the server and recruit my spiders again and again because of this issue.

I don't know if it's Dragonfly's rage interrupting my cast, or if the spiders are interfering with her going to sleep. I found one similar topic on Reddit but with Wickerbottom's tentacles instead of spiders. He also had issues with needing two Panflute casts.

The fix would require that the Pan Flute doesn't lose durability if the cast gets canceled for whatever reason, and that a second cast can't be queued if you click it while the first cast is still in the animation. That way I can just spam click the flute and not have to see all my spiders turned into cooked monster meat from a 400+ damage AOE attack with zero counterplay barring said Pan Flute. It feels cheesy, but at the same time there's no alternative if you want to use the one perk Webber has in combat.

I know I can use the deconstruction staff, but I tried to get one more use out of my 20% Pan Flute and you can guess what happened. First time I ended up using the console because I'm not losing one of my pan flutes over that nonsense nor am I replaying the fight again where you're just constantly anxious about that pan flute timing. It makes it much less fun.

I've had similar issues using the Pan Flute, I press a button to use it and...did it play the Pan Flute? Yes, uhhhh No? Rare Item...can't really use it...is this even a Video Game? Alright, guess this game is just a huge bug? Oh well, I guess I have to play Rollback DST, but I guess that's better than nothing, maybe?

try anticipating when the last lavae is going to explode

Are you saying that as soon as the last larvae explodes, Dragonfly will Enrage right then and there and the player can click on the Pan Flute once and it's all good?

lavae die 30 seconds after being summoned

when all lavae are dead and the last lavae didn't die on its own, dragonfly is 100% guaranteed to enrage

if you let the last lavae die on its own then dragonfly will only have a 50% chance of enraging, the other 50% is a chance to repeat a lavae phase (which adds 1 additional lavae)

so if you're waiting the lavae out then yes you can count 30 seconds after the last lavae spawns to play the flute, just be careful not to waste it if she goes to spawn more lavae instead

Cool, so the original poster was talking about Double Casting Pan Flute when trying to click on it.

Count 30 seconds, like, have a Stop Watch next to my Keyboard or like...count out an accurate 30 seconds off the top of my head while at the same time fighting a Boss? Good times, good times.
