QoL Suggestion: Better Teleporation System

Recommended Posts

As we all know - many players resort to Wanda in the endgame, due to 2 main reasons:

1.)Amazing Damage output at the cost of health.

2.)Traveling Convenience.

Now, I believe that every character should have it's strength and weaknesses, and I don't think that this strong point should, by any means, be taken away from Wanda. But, with all of that said - I'd love to see easier teleportation being manageable during the endgame, even by players who do not use Wanda.

So what I'm mainly suggesting is just a few tweaks to the already existent teleportation means available to all players in game currently. Which would be the Lazy Deserter and The Telelocator Focus.

The first change I'd like to suggest is relevant when there are more than one Telelocator Foci on the map at the same time. I really think that we should be able to choose which telelocator focus we'd like to teleport to, rather than the closest one in vicinity.

Secondly - I think the Lazy Deserter should work as somewhat of a pylon network at the cost of either gems or desert stones, even when there aren't any other characters around. We only get so many Desert stones every summer, and currently this item is pretty useless in solo and even in coop you dont see it used and utilized often.

I get how some people might say it's too OP, but please do not forget that each of these stations are probably gonna be irrelevant until the endgame, especially the deserter which requires you to endure summer and defeat the Antlion, as well as get Orange gems which are scarce.Winona would still have the free benefit of virtually free and endless teleports at the cost of cooldown, while other players would have to rely on Desert Stones which you get a few of every summer.

I think that this could be a great and welcome change into the game, which would also allow endgame players not to rely on Wanda so heavily, and I'd love to see it.

Thanks for reading this far, here's to hoping somebody out there will consider it. :)

Hi, teleportation material is not common and usually assembled after many in-game days, because they are not a needed or official function, but a quality of life function for when player expolred almost all of the world and has to go back and forth the known paths to collect / do stuff.

That being said, if any change is done to structure-type or staffs to make them more efficient and powerfull in later game, that would be nice, but we already have Survivor with teleportation ability, with their own lore-related reasosn! If webber was able to teleport without using the tools and magic of Charlie's world, it would be a 4th wall breaking by developers to make the Survivor's life easier! Just like in many movies/series when the main character barely gets hurt.

Hey, no offense if you did but did you actually read my post?

I didn't ask for a change in whether the recipes nor the materials consumed, simply asked for the teleportation function itself to be reworked. I elaborated on it on my post, as well as noted that I am aware of Wanda and stated why these changes shouldn't affect her negatively.

Yes I know, just gave an explanation on the topic of teleportation to cover for my upcoming words. As I said a rework of any kind would be nice for the existing system.

i like the way telelocator focus works :/

The way I am suggesting does not hurt or affect the current way negatively in any way, you could still potentially teleport to the nearest telelocator focus in vicinity as long as it's imbued with gems, it's just that you would now also have the option to choose another.

What I'm suggesting is that once you use the Telelocator staff - the map would simply open and you could click the one you want to teleport to.

Thank you for your time and opinion :)

i know is just that i prefer to think the location of these points rather than placing them everywhere

I'd prefer either ancient or moon crafting upgrade for the telelocator focus. That structure is quite efficient at how it functions as a fast travel point but it's at best a one way point to another part of the world. Underground it's useless which is sad, since the world there is much bigger usually. Playing solo all the time for me materials for it are wildly accessible but still not quite the convenience I'd like it to be.

I'd love if telelocator focuses could be selected on the map for teleportation via some kind of moon lens upgrade.

Personally I'd like to see more characters used in late game DST, but it's also just a minority of players that tends to play more than 20-80 days on a given server. Hell, I see many struggle to play more than 5. I also don't really see these suggested changes make them much more useful... They're still a huge hassle, can't teleport across caves to the constant ground level, and teleportation focuses are wildly expensive to the point you might as well swap to Wanda if you want to teleport more regularly.

Instead, I'd like to make it more beneficial to have at least one Wanda. Without making it more convenient to have everyone be Wanda late game for quality of life. What if Wanda can initiate a charging process for tele locator focuses with only a single gem? Or two gems? It'll take a couple days to get ready, but this way she could 'prime' teleports for other characters without having to be there herself to open a rift. Don't forget, she's still the only one who can get "free" teleports. And this is without much more infrastructure than a couple wooden chests around the map.

You both bring quite some strong points, and you share a main point which is the cost. I totally agree.

You could argue that Wanda can technically make a "cheaper telelocator focus" by imbuing her teleportators with a purple gem, but she would still have to be present... Perhaps a new permanent structure or upgrade, made exclusively by Wanda, could be worth it. Though I doubt Klei would do that sadly :(

Desert stones can be farmed off antlion by feeding her trinkets or eggs making them not limited at all, but i agree with the idea that every character should have this kind of convenience in the lategame.

The idea might seem overpowered to some people, but if a player is willing to spend the time feeding antlion hundreds of items, they deserve a pretty good reward for it.
