true, ds caves have better content. Atleast you can find set pieces but most of the content and the problems are the same

the archives are in the caves and eye of storm is linked to that cave content. But yeah, maybe they focus on the surface because of performance and because a lot of the plsyer base dont use the caves that much

Yeah and if so that would be a big shame since an underground/cave themed area has a lot of potential that is currently pretty untapped

If we’re heading this way, why not have your second message in a bottle reveal the location of ck for an easy ck rush ? (astral detector is part of the cc quest, but it’s no good if you want to rush ck)

Same thing goes for the shadow pieces and deep bass shoals, sometimes it will just take a few more days to find the pieces or to spawn the malbatross.

 

Rng should remain in the game to some degree, it’s what makes getting a krampus sack from a Klaus gift very satisfying for instance.

 

Besides, once you know the location of the right tentapillar, you know it forever. (but ig you probably just delete the world after killing the afw..)

Instead of just throwing "we need item for X thing" into the pool of a thousand other items that are annoying to manage, here's a neat idea that takes into account existing world generation mechanics. You know how many set pieces have a very specific biome they can only ever spawn into?

Instead of it being a some-what random tentacle anywhere in caves, set one tentacle to spawn somewhere IN ruins that WILL lead to atrium and which players WON'T miss. Like maybe behind the ancient guardian? Or have some extra labyrinth between guardian and the tentapillar that leads there? Might be better to set it to another branch, gives good reason for the player to explore multiple branches of the ruins. Then in addition to that, unless you get the chance to teleport away in some way, making the journey out of the area while ruins are reset will also add to the danger as you will be back at ruins and will have to get past it to get back through caves and to surface. Also means you can get some good ruins loot on the way out.
