Why Bernie scared a Nightmare Creature

Recommended Posts

Theory: What if the reason that Bernie scared off a Shadow creature is cuz of Willow's fire. So darkness and light are opposites right? You know whats the most common type of light in Don't Starve Together? Fire, the very same magic that Willow uses. Maybe somehow, Bernie has some of Willow's magic. Not to mention Bernie's pretty good at killing shadow monsters, and I remember hearing Abigail can't kill nightmare creatures so there's something unique about Bernie

Also a quick thought what if the reason Willow managed to summon fire in the orphanage cuz she went actually insane, Bernie can be summoned when insane if im not mistaken, so maybe Willows magic is also connected to her state of mind

I think the idea is that shadow monsters can only hurt you when you’re insane or vulnerable. Willow sees Bernie as protection against the monsters. This is why when she holds out Bernie in her trailer, the Terrorbeak leaves.

Bernie's a world-class boxer. Never lost a fight, all Shadows know this!
He's Willows body guard/bouncer!

Real talk, I assume its because of the funny trope that teddys scare away monsters. Most kids are portrayed as having their guardian toy! Willow's is Bernie!

Could be! You can also see her lighter on the shelf in some scenes.

That is a very cheap solution.

Spores produce light too, are the spores the darkness weakness?

DK was just a thought I had when watching the From the Ashes animated short for the 14th time
