Yup, but depending on where you have your base, that isn't always possible. To me that's another reason why they should grow above ground during winter.

My 2nd world had a very lucky spawn in that regard.

Savannah not far from Florid Postern and a Wormhole near it that lead to a Meteor field with cave sinkhole.

So i had all the more reason to make a surface base near the portal (solo world so no worry)

Made moving from surface base to cave base almost instant (at cost of some sanity ofc xD)
