So anyone who gets to a point where they can use visco-gel knows it can be used for liquid locks. But I'm curious if it has any other significant uses?

Did the devs intend for it to be used for liquid locks? Does that mean that liquid locks are a feature and not a bug?

What other uses does Visco-gel have, if any?

Thanks!

Visco gel was added as a material for liquid locks as people were already using those things. It was just to make a "legit" version of it at high tech. It can`t be really used for anything else. Actually when frozen it`s a replacement for plastic so you can use it instead of plastic at really low temperatures but that`s it.

...and here I am stacking a few grams of three different liquids to make my airlocks (3 so that I can set it in a pit and have my dupes jump over it, stopping them from getting any wetness debuffs) - I think they failed at making standing liquid airlocks a high tech trick.

That said, the temperature range does look kinda nice.

visco gell is great for research reactors, 3 tiles of it below the middle tile of a reactor forces the steam out to a diagonal tile like magma with mesh tiles.  this works because visco gel is the only liquid lighter than water

this makes some interesting research reactor setups as the reactor itself doesnt heat up on its own

the high boiling point makes it great for high temp applications aswell like a steam chamber, possibly a petrol boiler too
