Recommended Posts

I tried starting up a dedicated server following the guide and this is what happens. At first I tried starting up my cluster_4 world into a dedicated server since im on day 200 there and I got that same error , downloading a whole new server from the klei website yield the same results

As it says, you need a cluster token. To acquire and use it, you need:

Spoiler

go to main menu

open console (~ or ` or ё by default)

print TheNet:GenerateServerToken() and press Enter

go here and copy this character set

go into your dedi server folder, find (or create) a file cluster_token.txt and put this characters in there
it should look like this:

launch your server using .bat files you've created for your dedi server.

Press backspace when you are in the game to make sure you are logged in and connected to / authenticated by the Klei servers. You can post a screenshot after doing the above.

Thanks! Sorry, I thought logging in through the main menu would be enough but apparently you have to host / join a game in order to see whether you are connected to Klei's servers. :v This is what we are interested in:

It should tell us if you are connected to the servers that handle the user authentication.

Hmmmmm. It looks like you are indeed connected to the Klei servers (which provide authentication for users).

Are you executing the command locally or remotely? You can toggle whether the command gets executed remotely or locally by pressing Ctrl while the console is open. Not sure if this matters in this case but it might be worth to try both.

Here is a step-by-step guide, although it mostly states what you've tried already: http://dst-dedicated.mathielo.com/docs/ClusterToken.html

It should also be possible to generate cluster tokens on the Klei Account site. If the above still won't work you can try doing that and paste the token string into the "cluster_token.txt" file.

According to your screenshot your machine is running Windows. Do you have a file called "cluster_token.txt" inside the folder called "DSTClusterConfig" under "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether"? What folders are currently present there...?

There is an old thread describing an identical issue from 2016 albeit it went unresolved: https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/64319-200-account-failed-6-e_invalid_token/

Edit:

Corrected typos.
