Ways to refresh the gameplay loop.

I've heard several times over that further updates should change the core gameplay or at least spice it up. The devs showed interest in doing stuff of this vein after RoT, so in this thread I'll make suggestions that wouldn't be (for the most part) so hard to implement, but would go a long way.

 

Adding more ways to combat the seasons

Winter without beefalo wool can be rough. I don't believe it would be a bad idea to buff "useless" items like the cat cap into mid tier (120 insulation) items. It wouldn't really break the game, but it would add more variety to how you approach it. Same thing with the breezy vest, it'd probably be used more if it was a mid tier insulation item.

I argue that wouldn't ruin the balance of the game, since spring follows a similar philosophy and work fine enough, even summer does this (if we ignore the wildfires) to a degree.

Rework some game aspects (mild ver)

The fire staff would probably be used more if the loot of mobs burned by it didn't all turn into ashes. Maybe make it so that only half the loot gets burnt, or maybe make it so that it drops the items burning, giving you time to extinguish them with water balloons. (Its a freaking stick that creates fire, I think it would be plausible.

Spice up existing biomes and set pieces

Some examples of this would be: making pig king and moon stone have a chance to swap locations, making hound mounds or goat herds have a chance of spawning on a rockyland, stuff like that so that you never really know what exactly to expect.

Heck, if you wanna take the idea further maybe rework Piko and Tea trees or the sugar trees from the gorge into grassland biome variants (since we already have two forest and desert variants)  or add a salt pond variation to the rockyland.

To wrap up; What do you think of these suggestions and what sort of stuff would YOU like to see given touch ups?

No, I think it was different. But Klei went for story/boss additions. Juicy berry bush, moonrocks, twiggy trees were practically planned thing for TTA. So, we got what we got. Maybe eventually we'll get after story stuff's done, since the ocean is barebones it prolly will happen.

it's funny how despite the fact that the few posts that do talk about it (to my knowledge) really hammered in the expanded season mechanics and the world changing overtime gist, but aside from the Oasis in summer, we didn't really get much out of that
