Just a little reminder - Heart of the Ruins

Back in early 2017, at February 23, the atrium and the caution-taped ancient gateway was introduced.

And approximately one month after, at March 22, the ancient fuelweaver came to the game.

So if everything goes perfect, the next main content related to this mysterious energy will be released in November...

But don't be over-optimistic, because devs need to prepare Hallowed night and Winter's feast event too, and most of all, the COVID situation will delay the release a few more months. So let's be patient everyone, hastening doesn't bring quality content.

Anyway I suppose there'll be obviously no more new content in this 'Forgotten Knowledge' beta branch. We'll need to wait another future content update.

I dunno, I predict they will do another QoL update first. A character refresh and a bigger content update has got to tire them out. I think we'll see it either in December, alongside Winter's Feast like last year, or in January. But, anything is possible

For some reason I just don’t see the game reaching this end game everyone keeps talking about- I mean I’m sorry I can’t..

For one Klei said that return of them would lay down the foundation for every update that follows it (they could’ve just been referring to the first RoT update, but I don’t think they’ll just stop after RoT is over.)

Klei even said something along the lines that they see threads of players wanting larger changes to core gameplay (such as elevated plots of land which was a highly liked suggestion) and that DST isn’t going to go away anytime soon so to keep sending them those types of out-of-box Suggestions!

That to me implies that: “Hey Return of Them is a “Thing” we are doing, but it won’t be the ONLY thing.. there will be more.”

To top that off: there’s also several characters who have yet to receive their character refresh updates- All of these characters (with exception to Wigfrids) added new core gameplay, with new craftable items, structures, gameplay mechanics or more.

Wilson, Wolfgang,WX78, Wickerbottom, Wes, Maxwell, and Webber have yet to be refreshed. (I’m using the picture below from left to right, top to bottom as reference)

Meanwhile- Willow, Wendy, Woodie, Wigfrid, Winona, Warly, HAVE been Refreshed.

The DLC Characters Wortox, Wormwood, Wurt, Walter It is uncertain as to if they are eligible for a Rework.

Same goes for Shipwrecked & Hamlet cast: Wilbur, Wheeler, Wilba, Wagstaff and Walani.

 

IF you can count all the above then there is still 17 characters who are left to refresh (including all DLC) 11 if we remove the six SW/Ham. 7 if you remove the 4 DST Exclusives.

The TL:DR- I don’t think we will see the end of Return of Them or content updates in general anytime soon.

They might go for a rework before the supposed final update too.

Hopefully we'll see it before the end of this year, at least.
