Smoopadoop
The Snythe is a snail-like creature with a ravenous appetite for fully grown plants, and a number of scythe-like metal protrusions which allow it to harvest them. It moves slowly and can crawl along surfaces in any direction, and will automatically harvest plants by slooowly slithering past them while flailing its scythes. It eats part of the harvested material, drops the rest for duplicants to gather, and must discard and regrow its scythes after a few harvests. The broken scythes can be smelted down for refined metal, and when it dies, the shell can be crushed to extract meat and lime, or it can be cooked wholesale into escargot. Breeds: Snopper Snythe. Eats 50% of harvest. 25 Scythe uses before regrow. Drops copper scythes. Sniron Snythe: Eats 50% of harvest. 50 Scythe uses before regrow. Drops iron scythes. Sneel Snythe: Eats 50% of harvest. 100 Scythe uses before regrow. Drops steel scythes. Snavenous Snythe: Eats 75% of harvest. Scythes no not wear out or drop. Excretes "Snail trail" item. Snamin' Snot Snythe: Eats 25% of harvest. Moves very fast. Scythes do not wear out or drop. Very short lifespan. New items: Snythe shell: Can be crushed for lime and meat, or used as a cooking ingredient. Snythe Scythes (copper, iron, steel). Can be crushed for refined metal. Snail Trail: Cooking ingredient. Inedible. Looks like a weird mixture between caviar and frogspawn. Escargot: Food. Made at a gas range. Made with Snail trail, Lettuce, and Snythe shell. High quality, low calorie density. SharraShimada
Nice Idea (and cute artwork) but there is a slight problem... How is it supposed to eat 50% of 1? Meat lofe, brisstle and mushrooms for example produce only 1 item per plant.

Shinebugs already eat a small part of the fruit. Maybe the plant would just produce half the normal calorie amount.
V Ean
If this got implemented, i imagine that it would be used like hydroponics, meat and plants from the same farm
