I’m not going to agree or disagree with anyone on what content is considered as too difficult, and what content is considered as too easy..

Instead I’m just going to say that I’ve played DS Giant Edition and it’s DLC’s & Ive Played DST and there is a massive shift between difficulty in the two games, To put it bluntly- DST is 1000x easier (outside of boss content) And I can only hope that someday DST will start getting some of that harder content that makes solo DS so darn great.

Even if it’s tied to a harder difficulty option, But only time will tell.

I read your response as if you were against those mechanics, my bad.

It's a bummer when you have to defend every mechanic tooth and nail for fear of it getting nerfed or outright removed it people complain enough, thats what sucks with klei spacing these updates so far apart. Their larger vision, if they have one, doesn't get to be played as they originally developed and intended if the complaints (in regards to difficulty)  start rolling in.

I don't think you have to defend anything.  While some noise on the forums may count as feedback for Klei its not like they jump at every suggestion we drop.  If they did we'd have farms, beefalos, and dozens of items and crock pot recipes buffed to the point of actually being worth using...  This change here was basically a bug fix by preventing Wavey from spawning after players had left the boat, a pretty logical fix.  They also lowered the sanity to 25% for Wavey to pull patches which imo is pretty reasonable considering 75% sanity isn't anything I'd call "low."

But lets also be real here - there are things that are interesting and challenging, and there are things that are just a nuisance.  Wavey is kinda interesting, not really challenging but very annoying.  Boats are already slower than walking, and there aren't many places to go...  Just equip a walking cane and walk around, or better yet - build a boat bridge...

And that's really the problem I'm seeing.  Boat bridges are still pretty okay but actually outfitting a boat and getting out on the ocean is getting punished.  I think thats about backwards of what it should be.  Right now it looks like boats are going to be the next beefalo.  Too much invested for a niche bonus at best.  Nothing on the seas rivals anything available on land.  If you start your game building a boat you'll just be setting sail when the person who rushed ruins is coming out with a load of gems, wires, gears, thulicite crowns and nm fuel.

Granted Klei isn't done with the RoT content yet but at this point I don't feel like its worth boating.

For "boat bridges": I hope (personal preference) KLei will introduce in future updates Ocean Seasonal Weather with small and big waves that would move and eventually crash boats without anchor (small waves at open sea). But big waves on open sea will move even anchored boats left in the open so as people would be forced to anchor in shallow waters to prevent such occurrence - and yes, invalidate "boat bridges" (indeed they are convenient atm but let's be real, is a stupid concept in DST oceanic context). These to make Ocean both more lively and a bit more dangerous. But such danger aspects should also be compensate with better Ocean loot, from mobs and bosses alike - to incentivize travel in these new proposed setups. And I for one still hope for a Ruins-like sunken area/island complex with aqueous lunar mangrove and oceanic fauna&flora, some Nightmare Fissures bubbling in water (spawning Shadow Creatures constantly), and a Broken Ancient Pseudoscience Station in middle (idea of underworld/Ruins' parts being unearthed/raised by Moon Fragment's impact aka a Sunken Ruins themed mini-archipelago).

i kind of like the idea of small waves that encourage the use of an anchor(with waves being limited to a full two-boats-length distance from the shore of course to reduce game lag on poorer spec computers and to keep moored boats at the shore from floating off) though large ones would be super obnoxious and would only be there to pad out the time it takes to get from one place to another

honestly though i would just like more islands. even if there isn't much there it is something nice if you want to base away from others and would just be really neat to look at<3
