As an example, one use I have for ethanol generator. If I have enough ethanol into my reservoirs, then the smart battery A is the one used to turn on those generators. It becomes a priority for power over most of other ressources. If I don't have enough ethanol, smart battery B becomes the one in charge to turn on ethanol generators. The smart battery B is the one that initially control petroleum generators, which should usually start later. This way, petroleum consumption is in charge to relieve ethanol consumption, when my ethanol buffer is running below the threshold.

This way I do not over-use petroleum, which is involving straight use of water, I prefer ethanol, which indeed is using polluted water, but I get back a lot of polluted dirt in exchange (distiller), for pokeshell and sage hatchs. (That's not THE way to do, that's my way, in this game).

This is an example how to use the selector. Here, I'm using only 2 ports on the 4 available. Switching the input in charge to turn On some buildings.

I use them with my space scanner, allowing me to easily switch between automation circuits depending on whether I want to detect Meteorites or Rockets. Useful when your rockets are on maintenance
