QuartzBeam
Did anyone order a silly idea? Well, here you go anyway. I've always been a fan of Electric Milk and the way it shows off the weirdness of the Constant (much like Butterflies dropping Butter). I am not, however, a fan of its effort to reward ratio. I mean, to get a single bottle of Electric Milk, you need to: Kill Volt Goats until one of them drops a Volt Goat Horn (and the odds of that are not exactly great). Craft a Morning Star and some sort of electrically insulated clothing (Rain Coat, Rain Hat, Eyebrella). Hit a Volt Goat with the Morning Star to charge them, then kill them. It's a pretty complicated and time-consuming process, no? And volt goats rarely spawn in large numbers to begin with, so slaughtering them willy-nilly is probably not the best idea. And the Electric Milk is not great. It spoils in 6 days and it's best aspect is that it gives 10 sanity. Or you can make it into Ice Cream, which gives a whopping 50 Sanity, but spoils in 3 days (and becomes near worthless in 1.5 days, when it loses the sanity bonus). (Besides, won't anyone think of the Webbers?) But what if there was an alternate, more renewable source of it? I'm talking about these little* guys: Milkfish! Well, the real ones are called that cause they have more bones or something scientific like that, but Don't Starve has never shied away from taking names literally for the pun of it. Of course, the milk in Don't Starve is Electric Milk, so accordingly these would be Electric Milkfish. They'd spawn in the Hazardous Ocean (an electrified fish sounds pretty hazardous, plus there's no other fish there except for Dandy Lionfish) and would shock you if you tried to reel them in without wearing electrically insulated clothing (which would make you lose the fish, the lure and the tackle + take damage). But if you manage to catch them, you can murder them for 1 Fish Meat and 1 Electric Milk. That's all, folks! * Milkfish are kinda huge from the looks of it, but whatever. Dunk Mujunk
I would love another way to obtain electric milk Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/118771-electric-milkfish/#findComment-1339671 Share on other sites
Owlrust
This would certainly give more utility to Electric Milk than relying on Volt Goats, not to mention the fact that another source of the milk would not take from the benefits of volt goat farming due to their valuable resource being their horns. It's just really strange to require such effort and complexity for an item that has no unique uses. You can make Ice Cream using Butter instead of Electric Milk, but you cannot replace Butter with Electric Milk to make Waffles, Wobster Dinner or Fresh Fruit Crepes, and Butter at least can be semi-passively farmed (especially with Wendy). At least, if there was a way to replace Butter with Electric Milk, either directly or by refining it into Butter, it would help justify the difficulty involved in acquiring it. Mike23Ua
I’m commenting on most these posts, just so they stay active and don’t become archived too soon. Milkfish sounds interesting & for game called don’t starve more food pun related creatures and mobs can never hurt it. completely unrelated to Milkfish spoiler- Spoiler Just like the ELDER MANDRAKE, Consoles do not have the Hamlet DLC but when I saw how big and scary looking those things appear to be, it instantly made me regret ever plucking, killing, cooking, eating or using in a crafting recipe, the baby Mandrake plants. I hope they bring the Elder Mandrakes into DST someday, and they will get revenge for all their babies we have carelessly plucked and slaughtered. I only bring that up as an example of how a seemingly useless emergency food item, suddenly becomes absolutely terrifying.
