chenais
Insanity noises can be really annoying once you have heard them for a while. However, there is a simple, yet unknown trick to disable it. Go into your options and put the "ambient volume" to 0. Ambient noises are, except for the one of insanity, only small details that do not really impact the audio of the game and are not necessary for a good audio experience. Of course, some people know it, but its not everyone that has that knowledge. Hope you found it useful!
strawberryjuice
There are also alternative ways if you don't want to disable the whole game's ambient music. By using certain mods. One of the mods that can disable insanity noises is "Idea Testing" by eXiGe.
chenais
@strawberryjuice the reason I made this post was because some people do not want to use mods.

chenais
You just need to go into your options. @Xenologist
Well-met
disabling half the sounds in the game for one effect is not exactly a smart trade off. this is a matter that can only be addressed by Klei.
Alienm
Thats a real shame because background noises in DST are half of what makes the game's amazing atmosphere. I've been asking the devs for years to add a feature to disable JUST the insanity sound effects, they once replied saying that they are working on some changes but it never happened.
